Sub Box Build: Spare Tire Area

I've been reading throughout the forum and see where some folks have built their sub boxes into the floor. I plan on doing the same by taking the spare out and designing and building my own sub box where the spare is. I also plan on building a false floor to place the spare on and have an even surface. From looking at the spare, it seems it is about 5-7 inches thick so I will only lose about 2-3 inches from the stock folding floor. My concerns are how one Alpine Type R in a sealed box with about .75 CF would sound about 6x6 inches from the left-front side of the rear hatch area.

Please let me know and if you've got any pics of this type of setup, feel free to show them off.

    Thanks!

    I'll assume we're talking sealed box and a 12" Alpine Type R...

You should get good clean, accurate bass out of a .75 CF box with that sub. Not quite as much thud as a ported box, but they require more air air space and the quality of bass is not as high as a sealed box. A sealed box take a little more juice to drive, so I would go with an AMP that is right at the 500w RMS rating.

Location in the trunk area shouldn't be a concern. Bass is non-directional, so put it where you think it looks and/or fits best.
