    Speaker/Amp Install - clicking noise!?

Ok, so long story short. I've saved up for 2.5 years to get a decent system and went with the factory KICKER upgrade for my RT road and track as well as a 350.4 and 750.1 kicker amp. I bought 2 kicker 10'' CVR COMPs from Crutchfield buy 1 get 1 free deal....got a custom speakerbox from my research from Zentronics (which i'm very happy with) and checked around locally for an experienced installer.

I got all the stuff installed but kept my factory head unit. I'll post a seperate question for suggestions on a replacement but am more concerned that I took the car home and noticed two things. First, I am getting a hiss type clicking noise out of the front dash speakers...at least that is where it seems like it's coming from. I'm thinking maybe there is a issue with the new amps and my factory amp or some kind of conflict maybe? It's an annoying noise but when I turned the volume up just to level 10 my BASS cut out for a few seconds then kicked back in.

I don't know if those are seperate issues or not but I turned the radio off completely and THE NOISE was still there. When I took the key out of the car and opened the door, the noise was gone. So only when it's getting power is the noise there.

Any suggestions on what it is? I'm gonna bring this back tomorrow morning for sure but I'd like to be armed with some info if at all possible so any help or input would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Who did the install? Sounds like something was wired wrong.

a guy locally that has a shop did the install. They have really solid reviews from people in the area and have been in business 15 or so years. This guy has been doing installs nearly 10 years and just talking to him for a few mins. he clearly knew his stuff...but that doesn't mean he can't make mistakes. It's an annoying hiss and click too.

One thing I want to also mention is that before I went to do the install I did my own homework and it seemed like the general consensus for dual subs with my dual amps I mentioned should go with 4 gauge wires. When I brought in the car he said that 8 gauge was more then fine since my battery is in the "back" and the amps were only a couple of feet away. He said no need to go with 4 gauge in that situation but if the battery were in the "front" under my hood, then 4 gauge would of been the way to go.

I don't know if this has anything to do with anything but I figured i'd mention it.

Any ideas on what could be wired wrong or where the problem may be potentially given my setup with the factory amp?

Sounds are hard to diagnose since there can be so many issues that cause very similiar noises.

When you shut the radio off, do the amps stay on? It almost sounds like a remote wire to the amps is connected to an ignition source independent from the radio.

A bad ground can cause noise issues as well.

My personal opinion, I would have gone with 4 guage wire. While the length of wire needing to be ran for power and ground have a determining factor, the amps power draw has more to do with it. If its usually over 800 watts rms in total power, I go with 4 guage to be on the safe side.
