    Siruis Price Increase!!!!

Anyone else get this e-mail. Looks like the monopoloy is taking hold.

    Dear XXXX,

We are offering select subscribers like you, who have multiple subscriptions, a special opportunity to lock in the current low rate on their additional radio subscription.

On March 11, 2009, the monthly rate for your discounted subscription will increase from $6.99 per month to $8.99 per month upon renewal.* You can lock in the special discounted rate of $6.99 a month by choosing a longer-term plan at XXXX - but only if you act quickly.

And if you renew now, you can continue to listen online FREE for the entire length of your subscription. Effective March 11, 2009, online listening will be upgraded to a higher quality digital audio and no longer included as part of a base subscription at no charge.

    Save with Longer Subscription Plans.
Depending upon the Subscription Package and Plan you choose for each radio, you could enjoy an average annual savings of more than $90.00 with two radios on an Annual Plan. Save even more with two- and three-year plans. Any credits on the account from earlier payments made will be applied to your renewal – you'll only be charged the difference.

It's Easy to "Lock In" & Save

That's interesting, I haven't gotten that email yet. How many have 2 subscriptions though? I have mine and a friend's car and she pays me half of the total bill (saves us both compared to 2 separate accounts) and I'll soon be adding one to my living room. OK fine, those go up. Still discounted compared to the first one. Not like the satellites are any cheaper to keep in orbit!

Lifetime gets to keep free online listening FYI. That is a biggie for me as I have it on my computer all day long. (I'm a lifetime sub)

For those in the know....if I were to call Sirius and upgrade to the lifetime, would I be able to keep the free online capability? I've been with Sirius since their inception and really enjoy the programming. I'm asking here because I'm really lazy and don't want to call a customer service rep.

AFAIK, lifetime subscriptions are a thing of the past. Unless you plan on keeping the same radio forever (you can transfer the sub. to another radio, with fee, 3 times), you don't really save much anyway. Three years to break even.

BUT. If you call and renew your subscription before March 11th, you can keep the free streaming and the current subscription rates. I'm tempted to re-up mine for another two years for that reason alone.

I got one in the email today and it looked like phishing mail to me. The links do not go to Sirius.com but to chtah.com. To accept the offer, you have to enter your account number and phone number, both pieces of information that they already have. I logged in to my Sirius account and on there, there is no mention of rate changes or special offers, so I'm skeptical.

I just called and talked to some one to confirm this. Well i actually called 2 numbers, the one from the e-mail and the one from the Sirius website to confirm it wasn't just a hokey number. As of March 11, 2009, the 2nd, 3rd and 4th subscription will be 8.99 and loss of the internet radio. So if yall want to keep all that better renew before then. I asked if it has been postedon there website and she said no, not yet, only notifing customer by mail and e-mail.
