    Sirius Aux. Input

My brother-in-law has a 300 with sirius radio. His sub subscription ran out last month and he got the lifetime service plan. The catch is they said he couldn't use it with his factory radio. So the question is, since he already has the antenna for it, can he run some kind of auxiliary plug and run his portable unit. He is using a fm plug right now. I hope this makes sense to somebody.

That doesnt make sense at all... I too have the lifetime subscription and I can use it with any Sirius radio I have programed to my account. Sounds like they are trying to get him to buy more crap if you ask me.

As of last month his 300 Sirius radio was compatible - my question to Sirius would be what changed over the past month to make the OEM radio no longer usable?

FYI, if he doesnt already have it written down, he might have to pull the radio or Sirius box to provide the serial number.

That's what I thought. They told him that he couldn't have sirius on his factory radio. So he has been using his portable one. I'm going to tell him to call them back and see what is up. I found a couple of aux. adapters online. Which one is best or are they all about the same? Worst case scenario, he might have to buy one.

WTF? If the car has the receiver installed (if it came w/ the antenna through the roof, it has the receiver), then it can be activated. If the antenna isn't factory, then it probably doesn't have the receiver... both can be bought "aftermarket" and added so that the factory radio controls it however. Don't F around w/ the little crap portables and FM modulators if you don't have to!!!! Who's "they" that told him he couldn't use the factory radio?

Sirius told him that when he got the lifetime service. His car came with sirius. He's had it for over 3 years now. He is going to call back and get it straight. He already had the portable player for his work truck.

Oh... so they're saying they can't transfer the lifetime subscription from the portable to the car receiver?

Sounds like if it's a lifetime that comes w/ the car you can't transfer it out... but you should be able to transfer a lifetime from another receiver TO the car, for the $75 fee.

Yeah the $75 fee sucks but I see NO reason why they are requiring him to buy a new reciever. Well I see no legit reason...

Good job on finding the fine print T!
