    Simple auto dim rearview mirror?

I have a new Inferno Magnum RT with the standard day/night mirror. I want to install an auto-dimming mirror but NOT the one with Uconnect. It looks like, based on the Chrysler website, the the 300 Limited and 300C come standard with a non-Uconnect auto-dimming mirror. Is this correct? If so, what are the necessary part numbers and will this work "plug and play" on the Magnum if I get the wiring harness for the 300?

FYI, I've already thought about the Gentex GENK2 through Mito, but would rather have the simplicity of DC OEM for wiring and such. This would be my fall back.

I have the Factory autodim mirror w/Uconnect and it has two plugs that go INTO it and the plug for the auto dim function appears to be the same plug as the Gentek mirror I sell these mirror and I will try to confirm the harness compatability
the harness part # FROM DC is 05089051AB it has the two plugs on it it plugs INTO a connector that is behind the left fron widow pillar trim. Hope this helps
    Thanks for the Avatar, Hazman

I just don't see the benefit of HAVING the dimming rearview mirror considering the window tinting. I never use mine.
    Oh yeah...You know it does..........

    Available auto dimming mirror

I will be removing my auto dimming mirror on my 300 next week to install factory uconnect. Before I list it for sale on ebay does anyone on this site have an interest?

Thanks Earcandy. Called my local dealer. They said the part number was incomplete, wondering about the two letter code at the end. I've seen a post here that indicates the code as AB. Dealer thought it might be AA. :?

Anybody have an idea which is correct?

Pardon my brief semi-jack here, hemmee, but does anyone know an easy way to permanently disable the auto-dim feature on the mirror? As wmschultz notes, for many of us it's not desirable.

I manually turn mine off every drive, as it's active, even in the daytime, due to the tinted windows.

run a jumper from pin 5 (pink wire, acc. delay relay output) of EOM (electronic overhead module) to pin 3 (black/tan wire, back-up lamp feed) of 7 way connector of mirror. this will disable the auto dimming feature because anytime the key is on, the back-up lamp feed will be live. you'll probably have to cut and tape the back-up lamp feed wire to prevent feedback through the back-up lamp circuit which would illuminate the back-up lamps.
Izzy pics money talks. unfortunately, mine usually says... "good bye!"

Wow! I'm still shaking my head in disbelief, oh superfowl most astute. Absolutely amazing how you are able to ferret this stuff out, and then deduce the action plan!

Thank you, profoundly, funky - this was my last remaining "gripe" with this beautiful automobile, and you've just solved it. Amazing...

And I further nominate the wonderful, amazing, fnkychkn as Forum Tech of the Year. Further, if member participation in funding such an award, and reward, is needed, then put me at the head of the list to do so.

Wouldnt it be easier just to disconnect the plug on the mirror? Are there map lights or something else on the autodim mirror?

There are actually two (2) multiport plugs connecting to my mirror, 356magnum. The upper plug powers the U-Connect while the lower provides illumination of the multiple magic buttons on the mirror, among other things. Unplugging either is not an option.

That leaves funky's awesome auto-dim vasectomy procedure, which will be performed tomorrow (on the car only... ).

question becomes the c1 or rectangular connector, when it goes down the A post where does it get its feeds from. especially if the vehicle doesnt come with it.

I had an '02 ram with a plain old autodim mirror. Look around in salvage yards. You had to hit the button to turn it on. All you would have to do is run power wires to it tapping from the over head console.
