For the sake of curiosity, who has had problems with their REC Nav units?

since we have a billion or so LX owners here.

who has had problems with the REC unit?

    be it:

    CD Changer
    NAV Disc Freeze or Error
    LCD issues
    Joystick breaking

    or anything else.

please choose an option in the poll...

    I started it off,

I had 3 units replaced under Warranty before going aftermarket.

first was joystick 3 months after purchase

second was CD changer jammed, (never got my CDs back from dealer either) on replacement unit 1 year of ownership

last was LCD went all green...

    ---

in all my cases it happened within the first 15 months of ownership, before I started tinkering and repairing them (it's actually what got me started doing it).

I've never had a real problem. I attribute my "nav disc read errors" to using a burned backup copy instead of an original disc.

I have the NAV disc errors, and voted accordingly, but I believe that I am to blame. After all I am using a "backup" disc and perhaps it's not the best burn or something along those lines.

It is still really annoying when you're part way through your trip, more so when you're trying to enter a location, and get the disc error.

You really shouldn't list this as a problem if you're using a burned disk. Likewise, someone shouldn't list a bad display if they've done the Nav2Go mod or similar.

True. In my case my issues happened before I did any modding. My belief is the refurb units were bad

Every now and again, my audio on Sat will go out when I use the presets to change the station. Most of the time it's right after I start the car. Today, it was about 20 minutes into my drive to work :(

Prolly a TSB for that. LOL...

I only had the occasional "disc read error" until I tried testing he fan. I took the black face off and broke the joy stick when putting it back together.

By the way, the fan never came on while plugged into the REC but tested fine with a battery. All I can say for myself is
