    running two sets of components

i have alpine components installed, along with alpine 6x9s, and i have a set of mb quart components in storage, now my question is, would running my alpine and mb components together distort the sound more, or would i actually improve my sound quality????

anyone with doul component set up???

Are you planning on running them off the same signal source as the other set of components? Or will they be ran off a separate channel from the amp? Will this be off the factory amp?

^ Like he asked, what are you powering them with, are you replacing the 6x9's or just adding these, whre are you adding them (physically), etc. Personal preference, I think keeping brand/series of speakers the same throughout the car is a good idea, you know you'll get similar response characteristics from them.

well i have an alpine amp running rear decks n components

im almost certain the amp has enough power to power both sets.
i was going to fab. something for the rear doors.

im just worried about the sound getting more distorted, rather more clear and crisp.

i am running rockford fosgate type rf components in my front doors with the tweeter in the dash then im also running my rockford fosgate power series components in my rear deck with the tweeters flush mounted in the rear pillars....i made custom mdf wood plates to mount the 6 1/2 to the 6x9 holes and it sounds great im only running them off my pioneer 9800bt deck so it sounds good but once i turn to full blast it starts to distort becuase the deck isnt putting off clean sound sp im waiting to get my rockford t600-4 to put 100 watts rms to all four speakers

Keep in mind that if you run them off the same channels as the rears, you amp will be seeing a 2 ohm load on those channels. This is assuming you are running a 4 channel amp currently. This will give you more power out of those channels. So you might want to check with the manufacturer to make sure running two channels at 2 ohms and the other at 4 ohms is ok.

As far as distortion, as long as you don't crank the gains to get more volume you should be fine. Just set your gains low enough that the speakers don't distort.

I would not split the amp channels. Like Blowndakrt said, you'll be asking different channels of the amp to run at different impedances. You'll also be splitting the power between the new components and the 6x9's. Personally I'd scrap the 6x9's and put the components in the back. There's no need for 6x9's out back if you have components.

Also, if you're worried about imaging at all it would be horrible. I would also recommend just scrapping the 6x9s and going with the components all the way around.

Its not always a bad thing to do. Some 4 channel amps are actually 2 2 channel amps on one board. And they act totally independent on the other set of channels. So you can drop the ohm load on one set of channels without issues with the other set of channels. Granted that section of the board and heat sink will run warmer, but if the amp is 2 ohm stable, there won't be any issues.

It just depends on the manufacturer and how they build their 4 channel amps. Thats why I advised checking with the manufacturer of his amp.
