lol, I wrote that article, and it really isn't helping me on the FACTORY amp.

anyways...I figured it out, just remove the plastic panels on the door sill and front door jamb, remove a screw in the jamb, two behind the parking brake release and one on the bottom. Then there are a few clips holding the trim on the top, just pulled the panel out with some force and it came out. The amp is held in with 3 screws and plugged into 3 or 4 wire harnesses. It is a tight squeeze, but it will squeeze out of the dash with no more undoing.

I've learned that the factory amp has a little black box attached to it that is not part of the amp. If you remove the black box, your car won't shift right. So remove it from the amp's bracket and keep it in the car.

LOL, sorry, I linked you to the wrong one. It is under the driver's side if I remember correctly. I'm going to be tossing an LC6 and new amp in my car tomorrow... If I'm successful, I'll post MANY detailed photos of the entire process.

it has something to do with the electronic shifting. I would get up to 3000 rpms and the car would just sputter as if it were confused as to what to do.

It also would delay starting and offing and going from drive to reverse.

No big deal though, as long as you don't remove it like an idiot.

Can you just swap out the factory amp, like a plug & play. Can it be that esay??

BTW Rob, I sent you a PM. I'd like to chew the fat with you if you've got a moment

To make it public, the amp is easy to get out, but the harnesses are a different story. They are interloomed with all the other wires and trying to seperate them without cutting wires looks impossible. But what use is the amp to someone if you can't connect it to the radio?

The resolution was to cut all the wires from both the amp harnesses and radio harness and reconnect them later. Cars in general are wired for all sound systems at the factory to make swaps easy, but I have been led to believe that LX's are not. Still trying to verify that though.

So upgrading to the BA6 system from the standard 4 speaker is not that easy. IMO, it would be easier and sound better to go aftermarket.
