OK I just installed the REC I got from a member in Texas. Everything is working perfectly except it thinks I am still in Texas rather than California!
I drove around for 30 minutes and it moves around the map, at times it shows that it is seeing 3 satillites at time....but it still thinks I am outside Houston.
What do I need to do to make it believe I am in California?
Pleae Help!!!!!

Does it just have you out driving around in the middle of nowhere or what? I'd disconnect your battery for a while and let the unit reset again.

Battery disconnected for 30 minutes and no change. I'm still in Texas.... :(
try setting a destination in cali and see it if switches over
Well I drove over two cities and back...and I'm still waiting.![]()
Are you talking about a factory unit? Go to the screen were one of the words is HOME. Put in your home address, that is what is it for. Try that and see if it stays in your city when you are there.
Yep I've done that. Now it will guide me to my home....from Houston where it currently thinks I am....
Unplug the antenna (car off) and fire 'er back up. Hopefully it will go apes*** and realize it has absolutely no clue where you are. Then shut 'er off and reconnect the antenna, try again. Maybe that'll be the slap upside the head that it needs to reevaluate your 20.
This happened to me, too.
Go to the Nav Menu and find the Address Book. There is probably an address stored in there with a Texas address. For some reason, when this is the case, your Nav will default to the State in the stored address.
Simply delete any addresses in the address book and cycle the key in your vehicle.
The Nav should come back online showing you in California![]()
Let us know if this helps.

I thought this might fix it too and it was one of the first things I changed. It now has my home address entered. So when I turn it on (at my home) and tell it to map my route home, it still thinks I am leaving from Houston!
People are saying it will figure it out eventually. I will give it a few days and see.
Just so we're on the same page...
I'm not talking about resetting the "home" address...
Goto:
Nav/
Destination Entry/
Address Book/
From here, delete any stored addresses, or any stored folders with content. Once you've done this, cycle the key and your Nav should recognize...
On a side note... I still have the HOME address of the previous owner stored in my Nav (which is in Nevada) and I have no trouble with my system acknowledging that I'm in SoCal![]()
Hope this helps,
Bob
So if I am only hitting 1 to 3 satellites as I drive around (and many times none), could the antenna placement be the issues? If so, where should a mount it?'
Right now it is mounted right behind the frame that holds the REC nav unit in. I have it velcroed in to a spot on the top right side behine the frame. If I should mount it elsewhere, let me know where! I can't more it around too much as the cord to comes with is darn short!
