    question about amp bypassing

I recently installed a kenwood dnx 7120 in my mag R/T and bought the metra CHTO-01 harness to intergrate the boston acoustic system. I have since added a new 4 channel amp to power my new mtx speakers and just used the output from the back of the headunit back to my amp, but am still using the CHTO-01 wired up to factory amp but have the speaker output unplugged from the factory amp. my question is does the factory amp still draw power even though the speaker output is unplugged from it? If so what harness would i need to buy to make it where the factory amp is not used. If not is it really hurting me to have it hooked up this way. Thanks in advance.

Ummmm, I don't understand what your trying to do????

If your running your speakers off the 4 channel amp then why are you worried about the B/A Amp??

You can PM me if you want.

i am not worried about the BA amp just wanted to make sure that unpugging the speaker output on the ba amp (Because the CHTO-01 is to be used to use the ba amp with aftermarket head unit) i am not powering it still

Well the factory amp is probably still receiving power, but it shouldn't really matter since it's not doing anything but idling.

From what i know about amplifiers in general, it will still dissipate DC power unless you unplug it from the battery. I am assuming it is a class AB amplifier so this will not be a whole lot of power, but it is still there at all times whether or not speakers are hooked up to it.

If you're worried about it I would locate the amp and remove the 12V line from it.
