Q about OE 6 disc/mp3/cassette vs single disc cd head units

    Hello all,

Comparing these two factory systems, are there any other differences between them besides the head unit?

I ask because I am getting ready to buy a Magnum, and the 6 disc/mp3 system is a must-have for me. The dealer I am working with has one equipped the way I want, except it has the single-disc system. To close the deal, he's willing to swap in the 6 disc head unit for me, but I am concerned about the rest of the system. If everything else is the same, I'll do it, but if there are any other differences (speakers, power, etc?) then I'll hold out for a car that's factory equipped with the system I want.

We ordered the 6disc/3mp3 but they put the single in when we took delivery. We had it swapped at the dealership and the 6disc seemed to sound a bit better than the single with no change to speakers etc. We like it. For some reason I think it has a better equalizer or something.

Make SURE you have the Boston Accoustics 6 speaker system. The Amp and the speakers are different.

This was the first mod I did, there's a great tutorial in the knowlege base somewhere. The 6 disc/cassette has an amp attached and does sound much better, I added tweeters to the door pillars and it sounds even better. You can get your radio off Ebay or look in sell/swap area here.

I was under the impression that all the '06 Magnums come with the Boston Acoustics 6 speaker system; am I incorrect in thinking that?

Thanks for all the responses, folks!

edit: I'm referring to a V8 vehicle here; it looks to me as though all the Hemi cars come with the B.A. 6 speaker system.

the headunit doesnt effect the rest of the system. all three magnum decks are all interchangeable with any stock speaker setup.

I had the 4 speaker system with the single cd and swapped in the factory NAV deck with no problems.

I swapped out the single CD head unit today for an OEM 6 CD head unit (plays mp3's too). My car is a 300C with the 6 speaker system. The install seemed to be plug & play, all the functions appear to work.

My question is this: Should I have the dealer hook up the starscan tool to tell the car about the different head unit? I think the new 6cd unit sounds different like maybe the stock amp doesn't know about the new head unit. I feel like maybe the original unit had more clarity but it could just be in my mind.
