    Other NAV systems

I was planning on using my Pocket PC with iGuidance software and Bluetooth GPS in my new RT because the software works well ( I own it too), but I found this Pioneer unit that looks great on paper. The AVIC-N1 has a touch screen and can play DVD's. Any thoughts?

They are available on eBay for less than $1500

The problem I have with that Pioneer is that is only a single cd system. You can either listen to music or use the GPS. I think you can do both by loading some of the GPS DVD INTO memory or something but it's still a hassle. That's what's nice about the factory one for the Magnum. It's a 6 disc with the DVD seperate. But alas no DVD watching. Oh well, just my 2 cents.

that pioneer one is the way i'm actualy planing on going on mine, I looked for a magnum without the GPS system specificly cause I want to get that instead, it's only about $100 more than the GPS option if you buy it new and has so many more features than the factory one, the only downside is the minor hassle of HAVING to swap the GPS DVD in to get the directions, but then it loads it INTO memory so you can take it out and listen to music, could also just get a changer for it and then just leave it in all the time.

Pioneer has a 6 DVD changer also which is a very nice option... Otherwise alpine and kenwood have nav setups where the nav computer is seperate and has its own drive.

Don't forget, you will also have to REPLACE the factory amp (or do without an amplifier, which does not work well with the factory speakers).

You will also lose any and all integration with the EVIC display and with the UConnect option (if you use/have a bluetooth cell phone).

These are the main reasons I decided to go with the factory Navigation system.

I figure in 5 years or so, when I'll probably be ready to upgrade the Nav system, there should finally be some systems out there that offer some significant reasons to upgrade. Of course, I've never really wanted to watch a DVD in my car before...
