New Head Unit,Retain Boston System or Replace?

Just wondering which of you owners has swapped out the radio and retained the boston amp and speakers? I am unsure if I want to keep my factory system in there or if I should install all new speakers and wire them right to the new radio, what u guys say?

I kept the factory amp and speakers and I'm happy - but you will probably get replies that advocate replacing them. Personally, I couldn't work- or cost-justify doing it. My JVC sounds great...

Stock speakers are ok. However, you cant go wrong with the Infinity Kappa's all throughout your ride if you want. Its up to you.

I personally wouldnt spend the money on new speakers if you do not have a sub. So if you dont have a sub, leave the stock speakers

Good choices. You could run them that way too. It cant hurt to upgrade the speakers, but if you do then I would highly recommend the Infinity ones. Alot of people have had problems with speakers not fitting and the Infinitys seem to always fit.

Putting some decent 6.5" (or 6"x9") coax's in your doors off deck power should be a good affordable upgrade to go along with your sub. Why not do it all at once? For under $100 you can get a nice drop in coaxial pair. If you want to go further, you could do a component set with tweets in the dash off a 100x2 amp.

I would highly highly recommend 6.5"s if youre adding a sub(s). I have 6.5s in my doors and rear just because the 6x9s just give me bass, which I dont need at all.

And Rob's right. Why not do it all at once if its in your budget. Get it done right to your liking the first time

mopar and kicker got togeather and made drop in speaker kits. they also have a amp upgrade that pumps out 368 watts. you can do a 400 watt dual subwoofer install all ready to work in the lx. check out kicker's website under products click on mopar.... i did the amp, front speaker kit and rear speakers and they are loud, clean and have tight bass response..

if you're gonna replace the speakers you might as well get an amp to power them. headunits put out about 20 watts a channel?

Mods: 20% tint, touchscreen radio, 22" rims, removed resos, smoked tails, 12" FI SSD, MTX 1000XD, PG comp. speakers.
