    Need Help w/ REC Nav

A couple weeks ago my nav started giving error messages. Actually the same error message. "Disc error. Cannot read disc. Check disc". I have the "self upgrade" AE version of the Nav software. I've tried cleaing the disc and unit itself. I even tried my backup AE version software that I created the same time I made the one that is in the unit now. Now of that seemed to help. I've been running the AE version for a few years now w/out any issues whatsoever. Any suggestions?

Use a shot of air from an air can. Also check the fan on the back of the unit. A lot of these have failed and the heat builds up in the unit.

Hey NC, I tried a couple shots of air and a a cleaner, but no luck. Removed unit and just as yousaid, the fan is inop. Is this safety feature and if the fan is repaired we're back in business? Or is the unit toast?

Hey NC, you think there is a chance the NAV will return to full functionality if the fan is replaced?

Holy crap. I went through the pain-staking effort to de-pin my old fan, but in the process lost track where the red and brown wires came from respectively. Any one have a picture of the fan connector so I can guage which side had which wire?
