Does anyone know how to get the DVD out of the Factory Navigation radio?
Also, what is the latest software version?
Thanks.

Not sure about the latest version but to remove the DVD there is a cover just under the display. There is a little tab on the left, pull it down and remove the cover. Then on the right there is a little eject button press it and out it comes. I found that with my big fingers pressing the eject button with a pen works best.

The current version ends in AC. Came out 7/04.
I was working with my to dealer to upgrade FROM the AB release to the AC, since the AC came out before my car was built. After much discussion, I am being told by Chrylser, that there is no difference in the DATA between the AB and AC release, just some bug fixes for a differnet version of the NAV. It is not required by the REC in our cars. Not totally sure they are right, but I will stop fussing and wait for the 05 DVD release.

Did everyone get a "free Update" certificate? I did not get one and called my dealer. He said he'd ORDER one up FROM the factory and mail it to me. I want to wait a year before I use the freebee.

To remove the DVD you will notice at the left side of the cover a latch. Press on that and pull toward you. The cover will come completely off. Now remove the DVD.
Does this mean that in the navigation unit there's 2 disc readers? (1 for nav disc and 1 for music playing disc)
Yes.

Yup. That was one of the things that sold me on the nav unit. Older units you either played music or used the nav system. Now with this system you can do both at the same time.Originally Posted by Fred

Can ayone take pic or two of removing the DVD? I'd like to add it to the Knowledge Base. (or if anyone wants to add it to the KB...go ahead!)
Thanks!
