    MYGIG Harness

    hello. i have a 06 300c and i have a new MYGIG unit.

anyone that has recently just bought the harness from COSTAL

could someone take a picture of the harness or does anyone have a diagram of what wire goes to what wire. i would like to make a harness ( i know i can not make the lockpic) but i would like to just turn the mygig on to see normal option.

Don't bother. I just did the install. The harness is not the only problem. The mygig does not power up when plugged into the cable with the lockpick unplugged.

    MyGig Harness

You can power up the MyGig with an harness only but it will be a custom built one(not a LockPick harness), but there are limitations, such as no Turn-By-Turn Voice and no settable clock(but this one is even a problem if you have the CoastalETech LockPick adapter).

The other thing that you have to consider is the model of MyGig that you've purchased, specifically is it a low-speed unit or an high-speed unit? For your Magnum you need a low-speed radio. Check the model number on the tag that is on the top of the MyGig itself. As there are so many variations now there are too many to list here, but go to:

    http://www.wkjeeps.com/wk_nav_2.htm#PARTS.

You will find a full list of the model numbers so you can then decipher which one you have.

After that you'll have to buy the correct wiring harness connector for the MyGig end. You can find the part number for it at:

    http://dto.vftis.com/mopar/main.asp

You want the Radio C2 connector. Depending on how well your Chrysler-Dodge dealer takes care of you you'll pay between $50-75.00 for the connector only.

Then you need the dash harness end connector, which you can buy from a Metra dealer. I can't find the part number right at hand but the dealer can find it for you.

In total you're going to have about a $100.00 invested even before you begin.

After that, you can start building the harness, which isn't really too hard. You can find the pinning guide at the same site as the Chrysler OEM connector, for both ends.

I can only reiterate that tonight, at least in my case, the mygig would not power up with the lockpick disconnected and powered up immediately when the lockpick was plugged in.

That's because with the LockPick adapter the car, and the MyGIg itself, have to be able to 'see' the adapter, so that the two can start 'talking' to each other. The adapter is the connecting bridge between the two entities.

The harness I had described previously will allow a MyGig to be installed in a pre-'08 but with some lack of usability. No adapter box needed.

So it's your thought that a mygig would power up and provide basic function with only a wiring harness?

Exactly. That's what I built almost a year ago, and used to get started down the path to full functionality as I now have, pre-CoastalETech MyGig adapter.

if you have a BA amp the mygig won't turn it on w/o the adapter, it powers the kicker amp on w/o a problem.

Just out of curiousity, what, other than the BA amp issue as you stated, didn't work with just your harness?
