Motorola V710 owners, what do you think of your phone?

I want to keep my verizon account and also get bluetooth for the car. The only thing is I have heard nothing good about the Motorola V710 phone. I heard it feels cheap, sounds cheap. Plastic creeks. And other bad things like the battery and signal strength will not appear on the nav unit. I know verizion has got the best coverage, but what's with the phone. Can you tell me youroverall impressions?

Love the phone. Doesn't feel cheap to me. I had a Kyocera slide phone before this one and the Kyocera felt cheap. I do wish the signal strength and battery strength would SHOW up on the nav but they don't for now. FROM what I was told, Motorola is working on this and should have a software fix sometime in the near future although no date was told.

Battery in the V710 last a long time. Don't really care for a camera phone although this one is 1.1 megapixels which is really good for a camera phone.

The phone is a bit pricey but then again most new things are.

On a scale of 1 to 10 I put this phone at around 9.5. I only take off for the lack of signal and battery strength.

I agree, there are some people who don't like the phone, mainly for the price. It's expensive as cell phones go.

But mine doesn't creak, or feel any cheaper than any other cell phone. Remember these are just little pieces of plastic, hard to make them feel like a million $'s.

Overall I like it. If you get a transflash card, you can LOAD a million ring tones and backgrounds on it yourself witout paying for them FROM almighty verizon.

I didn't think the battery lasted too long, mainly with the bluetooth on. With the bluetooth off, it lasts for 4 - 5 days. With the bluetooth on, I get about 2 (on 24 hours a day). I got the extended battery which now lasts 4 - 5 days with the bluetooth on.

Camera kinda stinks, but it's better than others I have seen. Not as good as a real camera, but it is a phone.

I would have likes more bluetooth functionality. Battery and signal on the dash and being able to sync with the phone via bluetooth.

Using it, I think the reception is great. Better receiver than in any phone I have ever seen. I get cell reception with the v710 that my wife's LG VX4400 says it has no service. Some people complain that the volume is too low. I don't use mine on a subway or at a construction site, but for stores, or office buildings and such, I think it sounds just fine.

It was expensive, but it does work with the uconnect. I, myself, am quite pleased with mine.

Something a friend of mine told me. All those bells and whistles (signal strength and battery in the dash) don't mean a thing when you can't make a call.

You already know that verizon has the best covereage (generally nation wide, I know depending on where you are things change). And at the present time, if you have u-connect and need bluetooth then you need to get a V710 if you want verizon.

I guess you have to decide if you need the bluetooth for uconnect or the wireless headsets.

You can get bluetooth FROM other companies with better bluetooth functionality. But all those bells and whistles don't mean a thing when you can't make a call.

I'm not saying Verizon is the best company in the world. I'm not overly keen on any of them. But you are getting a phone and go with whom ever has the best coverage in your area.

If that is Verizon for you and you want the bluetooth for the uconnect, then I think the V710 is what you should get. It's pretty much your only choice.

If you don't have the uconnect or don't want bluetooth wireless headsets, there are other phones FROM verizon which are also just as good (some would say better) for less $. I seem to remember a LG 7000 or something like that... but no bluetooth.

For me, in northern NJ, Verizon is a must, no one else has coverage anywhere neer what Verizon does. Then when I got the 300C with the uconnect, that left me with one choce. At least I don't feel overly screwed or upset with the choice I had to make with the V710.

Just a clairfication, if that wasn't clear. It does bluetooth great, but right now only headset (the uconnect is one big headset) and dial up protocols are there. I am hoping to see the syncing with bluetooth some day, but I'm not holding my breath.

If you want to sync, you need the usb cable and the motorola phone tools 2.2something or 3.07 (which you can find if you are cleaver on the internet).

Also they have said that the next firmware UPDATE should increas the things you can do with the bluetooth. They have also said that they will be changing the way the transflash card is cause they (Verizon) are mad that people can take all those picutres and store them on the card and get them off the card without paying verizon for the service or air time. So the rumor is that they will be locking the memory card so it's only readable in the phone as added storage for the things you buy FROM verizon.... not as a medium to take pics off and put midi ringtons and wall papers on without paying for them.

All good things have to come to an end huh? I hope that verizon is not such a money grubbing company to do something to profit driven to just anoy it's customers. They aren't like that huh?

Yah, it sucks doesn't it. Personally I got a part number FROM someone who bought the usb cable FROM hellomoto and then ordered one on ebay for $10. I think my friend paid $40 for the cable and the software. Luckily, the V710 uses the same cable the T720 and V600 and a bunch of other motorola phones do so they are everywhere.

This might seem like a dumb question, but when you plug your phone in (via the usb cable) do you get the "windows you added something do-do sound"? CHECK the device manager, is it in there? I don't remember what it's supposed to say, I can look it up, it's on my other PC. It should be recognized via windows before you even try running the motorola phone tools.
