    Question Magnum SXT + NAV

So I have a feeling I might just get links posted in a reply, but I didn't see much in the way answers in the forums so here it goes...

Currently I have ordered an 06 Magnum SXT-AWD - still another 2-4 week minimum as I havn't gotten a build date yet. I upped the sound system, and to the 6 CD changer etc... I was kinda bummed out that if I wanted the Nav system, I would have had to go with the R/T or higher, and well my upfront/insurance/gas pocketbook didn't want to do a nose dive having a HEMI and all that... (still only 24 so insurance would be insane)

Long story short (too late now) I am looking for what a good NAV system would be as when I am going somewhere new, I tend to get directionally challeneged once in a while.

Any suggestions for either an external or an aftermarket installed one.. I live up near Chicago and weekends are usually busy so it would be hard to really travel to get one put in... (when I actually get the car that is)

    Thanks,
    -Patrick

If you're looking for a simple GPS system, did you think about the Mopar one? I only have it because it came with the car, but its been a Godsend and I'm glad I have it now...

This pic shows how it sits on the dash:

I don't understand why you needed the RT to get the navigation... I'm bout positive it's a plug-n-play to any lx

Might want to look at Garmin Streetpilot units. Stand alone, stick to windshield w/ suction mount. Cost about $400+, mine works great and can be moved vehicle to vehicle. If you want more permenant installation something could be worked out with the mounting cradle.

You can buy the REC unit (the navigation unit) from your dealer or a board sponsor. I believe that they recently lowered the price on the kit to ~$1700. It includes the REC unit, the antenna and the cd with the maps. You must also purchase the nav unit bezel which goes for an additional $50-70. You can find the nav units on Ebay for ~$700-900. The newest one has a part # ending in AM (AL was the previous unit and had some issues with the joystick). The install is plug and play..many people on here have done it and posted about it.

As Blue said, You can do a direct swap to the same NAV that the RT has. All you need is the Bezel which just pops out. The cables are all the same in the back. just unlplug the old one and plug in the NAV and ur done took me 10 minutes

Yeah, me too... No brainer. Got mine off eBay and it was brand spankin' new. You can tell when they are because the shipping bracket is still in the top, and the cloth on each side that stops the bezel from rattling/squeaking hasn't been perforated by it yet....

be patient, ive seen members selling them here often for 900-1000, or you could buy a new one for @ 1600-1700. good news is that it will work just fine.

Ok so I finally got an estimated Delivery date of Mid May last Sat, so I am guessing I should have my car in less then 2 week YAY... quick question though... if I have the upped radio (6 CD changer bLah blah blah) will I need to get a new bezel to go with the stock NAV system or is it the same?

You will have to get the nav bezel. I saw a few on ebay. Or better yet order one from AJ at the mopar store.
