    Magnum R/T Factory Alarm Question

Does anyone know how the factory alarm works or is wired? I want to know about the signal it sends to the horn when you arm and disarm because I would rather have a piezo horn than use the car horn and wonder if it's possible to add one.

The car horn is too loud when you get home at 2am and want to be discreet.

You could lock the doors FROM the drivers door instead of the remote. This would keep the horn FROM tooting. If you have the electronics GROUP you can also disable the horn toot when you use the remote. If not, you can take it to the dealer and they can disable the horn blow on remote lock.

    Just some ideas.

You can disarm the locking horn in the personal settings FROM the steering wheel too.

Thanks for the replies guys. I know I can disable the horn all together, but that's not what I want to do. I still want some audible indication that the alarm has armed or disarmed. I just don't want it to be the horn. On my Subaru there is a nice soft beep. I was hoping I could duplicate that by using a piezo horn in place of the car's horn. That is why I need to know how the horn is triggered by the alarm.

The horn is most likely triggered via the databus so its going to be difficult to isolate when its the alarm triggering it. You'll have to find the alarm module and grab the databus connection coming out of it. Problem is I don't have any clue where that module is and I haven't read on here where it is either. There are several things we could do if we could isolate that module though.

Yeah, I figured it would be tough, just wondered if anyone who has access to wiring diagrams or the service manual might have the low down.

For now I guess I can just disable the horn.
