Looking for a switchd 12v source in the trunk....

I'm installing an amp and subs in the trunk. I have the LOC from Scosch to tap the rear speakers for signal, I now need to find a 12v switched source in the trunk to turn the aftermarket amp on. By the way, I do have the factory kicker sub back there as well. I plan on removing it. Anyone have any ideas?

Under the box where the wiring is actually at, I have used a source that is either a pink/grey or a pink/yellow. I will check my manuals later today for exact color. I do not think there is a source that a fuse tap can be plugged into, I think you will have to splice into the wire lead.

That box is very touchy to being messed with, if you take it apart to access the wires or do other work in it, and then you get an ASD (auto shutdown relay) error code, go back and wiggle the wiring around and it should clear.

Tap into the fuse box there is a fuse for the cigarette lighter that has 2 slots, one is switched and one is constant.

BTW: Are you selling the sub/amp combo?

You could also wire up a Bosch relay.

Thanks for the info guys, I may try and just splice that fuse box. How do I know which one is switched and which one isn't? Do I just stick the bare wire into it and try it out? I may be selling the sub/amp.

I don't know if I'd know how to wire that in...I'm not going to do a big system, just an amp and two tens with everything else stock...

This will keep you from overloading anything. Very easy to wire, 1 wire to the Battery through a fuse 1 wire to the battery ground, and 1 wire to turn in on. This gives you 8 circuits at 5amps each with grounds.

I like the idea of it, what does it cost? Because if I can just get a 12v switched wire the cost is almost zero, and again what "wire to turn it on"?

Get the Pac-Audio C2A-CHY LOC. It provides you, not only with 4 RCA outputs, but a switched 12v line out, to turn on your amp. This cool little box plugs in right behind your stock radio (no cutting or splicing required). You simply run the RCA's and extend the 12V switched wire to the trunk and you're golden!

I used this when upgrading the sub in my SRT8 Charger and it works beautifully. The only drawback is that you lose fader control to the sub, but if you have an amp with a remote sub control, viola! Im running a Kicer ZX 00.1 monoblock sub amp and ran the remote sub control to the front, but since I've calibrated it, I haven't had to touch it.

I think this is the way to go...

    Hope this helps,
    Bob

<edit> One other thing to consider is that the newest ZX series Kicker amps have a discreet turn on sense circuit, so when they "hear" the audio signal, they turn on automatically (no remote turn on wire needed!).

Charge4life pretty much answered your question. The fuse in the fuse box that has 2 positions is the cigarette lighter fuse. It can either be on constantly if in one postion, or it turns off when the accessory power is off in the other position. If you tap into that then you acc power from your fuse box.
