LC6 necessary? Amp can accept high-level inputs...

I just got a JL Audio 300/4, and just like all the old amps I used to own, this one has the ability to accept speaker-level inputs and it will interpret the signal internally. The amp also has all the gain and frequency adjustments that the LC6 has... The only benefit I can see is that the LC6 is 6-channel whereas my amp is 4-channel, but if I had a 6-channel amp with these features, what would be the purpose of the LC6?

I wonder if anyone has any documented proof that the LC6 can do a better job at converting speaker-level to low-level than a quality amplifier in this situation.

Does the AMP have a crossover on it as well?? ( Usually labeled HPF / LPF w/ some knobs to adjust frequency )... If so, I'd say screw the LC6... The only advantage of the LC6 would be to have line level processing of the signal before it goes into the amp.. ( i.e. Crossover, DSP, etc.. ) Also.. if you need to join signals ( i.e. merge the front dash and front door outputs to get a full range output ) then the amp isn't going to cut it.

It sure does. I'm glad I haven't removed the shrink wrap from the LC6 yet. I don't know why I didn't think of that before? I got caught up in the LC6 hype or something...

That's really all I can think of that makes it useful. I'm going to leave the rear signal as is (rumor has it that it is full range), but I'm still debating whether or not to sum the dash/midbass or simply power a new midbass with the JL and let the stock amp power the dash (with new 2Ω speakers, of course).
