    Ipod Connection

I just got a 05 magnum r/t and would like to put an ipod connection into it. What are you guys using in your cars? I have seen a few different products out there and i definetly dont want to use a fm modulator or transmitter of any kind. I have looked at one from PAC audio and am wondering if it is any good.
    Thanks

I have an rec navigation radio. I bought the kit from peripheral electronics and love it. You have to disconnect the rear DVD if you have it though.

It works for my iPod and iPhone. Steering wheel controls function with it as well.

    Look it up.

The Mopar one does seem to be the best one out there but its pretty pricey. Does it have the song info that comes up on the radio? Do any other set ups have the text on the radio too?

The RAK 6-Disc (non NAV) radio displays song/artist/title, etc.

I'm a very new LX owner, only a couple of weeks, but I knew I wouldn't be able to get by without an iPod connection. Based on price and some of the reviews I read I settled on the iPAC-CHY. I looked around quite a bit and found that RitzCamera.com had one of the best prices I could find.

My car originally had the single CD player (REF) and I purchased from a member here a replacement RAQ CD changer. Hook up was a piece of cake and I've been happy with the iPod interface so far.

In my previous car I had an iPod interface from BlitzSafe. Sound was good, but there was no control connection between the radio and the iPod. With the iPAC-CHY you get some minimal control (track forward and back and some others) but that's about all. I was pleased to find out though that not only did the iPod pause (as I expected it to) when the radio was turned off or input mode was switched, but it starts playing again when the input mode is switched back or the radio is powered back on. The BlitzSafe model I had only paused on power off.

As I was looking, I noticed that the Mopar interface was supposed to have better control of the iPod, but some reviews I read complained about it's reponsiveness. I had a JVC stereo with an iPod interface in a car earlier this year and I hated the slow response so I decided to stay away from the Mopar interface.

    Good luck with your search

I have the RAK radio. So are you saying that any of the ipod adapters will display the song info?

The iPAC-CHY does NOT display song info. I think you have to go with the Mopar interface for that ability. As I previously noted, I had a JVC system that took complete control of the iPod and I hated it and I've had a BlitzSafe system that offered no control of the iPod and I liked it much more. The big difference was the implementation of the iPod control on the head unit. On the JVC searching and selecting music was a real pain and the iPod controls were locked and not available.

I would try to find an installed system that you can try out.

I forgot to mention I have the Mopar interface. Not sure if other brands can.
