    INSTRUMENT CLUSTER: Reset, all warning lights illuminate.

    If you've had the intermitent problem where all of your analog gauges go to zero and your warning lights in your instument cluster briefly illuminate... Please post.

    If you've had it resolved... Please post the cause of the issue.


    I've noticed two additional symptoms:
    AC goes off while the cluster is resetting
    If on Auto-Headlights the headlights also go off.

    Turning the key to the "on" position will reset everything to normal operating conditions (even while driving)

    I can't Force it to happen... It doesn't happen while hitting bumps or anything that would indicate a short. I tried making it happen by pulling on the keys or jiggleing it in the switch. no good.

    Please share your resoultion if you have one!

    I've had it at the dealer... no codes to indicate the issue, and they don't know what the cause might be.

    Yup. Twice!!!

    The second time highway speeds in the pitch dark. Almost put her in the ditch.
    Turned the car off, restarted, and all had been fine for a while now.
    The dealer found no codes the next day. They did clean a few ground connections I believe. It hasn't happened since but that could be a conincidence.

    I have had this happen more than a few times. No rhyme or time as far as conditions go; bumps, corners, etc.

    Mentioned it to the Dealer at 27K, and, as you, "no trouble found". It has not done it for awhile, but I don't drive the car as much as I used to.

    Not much help, I know; but I share your frustration!

    Funky's response in the other thread was ground related... I guess start checking all the grounds...

    i dont know if this counts but my whole cluster went bad..at first the speedo would stop and start then it totally stopped..good thing i had extended warranty...$1400 to fix it...hope your problem is not the start of the end of your cluster..

    i nevr had that happen , but a month ago i go to fill up, hit the trip reset and my odometer got stuck on _4_500_

    was weird and no matter what i did, hit the tri reset again, tried to switch between the temp display, odometer reading, and trip set and it wouldnt move off of _4_500 and didnt change as miles were put on, after 3 days i had to unplug the negative battery terminal and it finally reset back to normal...

    Yeah... I'm not gonna be paying $1400 to replace the cluster... that's just not gonna happen.

    I had this happen on my truck and it turned out that the battery cable end was corroded under the boot where you couldn't see it. Might be worth checking the wiring between the alternator and the battery too.

    Experienced same problem yesterday AM after startup. I was amazed to see the tach drop to zero while the engine was humming away. After a couple of seconds, everything came back to normal and it didn't happen again. I'm wondering if the cool and somewhat damp conditions in the parking garage at my apartment house could somehow play a part in all this; perfect conditions for corrosion. Taking the car for oil change on Monday and I'll mention it to the dealer. If anything worthwhile happens, I'll be sure to let you know.
