Sounds simple right? I searched threads and found nothing. All I want to do is play music and upload some pictures of my car into my car.. Surely I don't have to buy a lockpick?? Any advice??
Does your unit have a USB port? My wife used her USB key to upload some music and pictures onto her MyGig hard drive

You plug in the USB key, the MyGig recognizes it's there (at least it did for her), and then you can copy them onto the hard drive.
I just use the aux outlet on my REN mygig for my I-phone ipod. Burned my pics to a cd and transfered them to it also.

It imported all of my contacts and I figured out how to burn CD's to the hard drive. It won't let me import files though..
A regular iPod needs to have disk use (or something like that) enabled to get it to act like a usb drive. iPhones and iPod touches don't do that anymore unless you hack it.
It's awesome to have such a nice head unit that won't detect an auxillary source. I tried again. Won't detect device.
So this is only a problem with the iPhone, not the iPod. Found some info..
iPhone | MyGig fix!! FINALLY!

download the zip file.
Burn the files to disc
put it in and follow the onscreen prompts..
Of course RESUMESPEED knew something on this issue..
There is an official MyGIG DVD intermediate update disc available, the p/n 68043349AA. But, I am not certain of which version it is, I would have to assume 9.561.
The disc only lists for around $10.00, and is not a major release for the public, but rather a disc for use by techs to update some of the MyGIG radios that have had issues with stuck discs or having the "module failure" error code. These issues were in 2007 model year non-LX MyGIG radios. However, the disc would properly update any MyGIG radio that has a version below what is on the disc.
When you are at the dealer hit the parts department and see if you can order the disc. If so, the most you can lose is $10 if the disc ends up being below your 9.5xx version.
But, don't be afraid to grab the download file. It is not some hacked version someone came up with, it originated from official sources and a lot of people have performed the upgrade without a single issue reported. The auto-off nag screen from the latest update is worth its weight in gold!
BTW, when an update disc is loaded, a screen will come up displaying your current software version along with the software version that is on the disc. You will then be prompted to perform the update, or you can say "no" if the version on the disc is lower than what you already have. Interestingly, you can actually revert back to a prior version on the MyGIG radios. I found this out accidentally when I loaded an older update disc by mistake and "downgraded" my software. No problem though, I simply loaded the correct disc and "updated" to the latest 9.561 release.
I load the disc and all it says it DATA. What am I doing wrong?
I tried to download the update via flashdrive, didn't work. I don't even own a computer!
