How much did you pay for the REC, Navigation unit and where did you buy it? I have found it for $1667 online. Was wondering if that is the cheapest price.
Thanks

That is about as cheap as I have seen it. Make sure it includes the installation kit, i.e. the antennae, etc. You will also need the bezel to REPLACE the non nav bezel.

Could you post the URL where you found the unit?

if you are goint to spend 1600+ you might as well get an after market pioneer , kenwood dvd navigation off ebay. Much better than the oem nav plus dvd and high output.
I would much rather have this plus detachable face security

Will the Kenwood or Pioneer aftermarket dvd/navigation units fit INTO the magnum?
If so, I will consider putting the Pioneer AVIC-N1 unit in.
Will the Kenwood or Pioneer interface with the Magnum's EVIC, steering wheel controls, or amp?
Besides losing the EVIC integration, wouldn't you also have to REPLACE the amp, and get an aftermarket replacement/solution for the steering wheel controls?
I'm not trying to criticize this option. It's just that I've been doing a lot of reading on these forums trying to decide what I want to do when I finally get my Magnum (please let it be soon!), and it seems like truly replacing the factory Nav system requires a bit more than just buying one of those units off of eBay.
And that's not even factoring in the labor costs (in terms of cash or beer) for those of us less familiar with doing car audio installs ourselves.
I got it on ebay for 860

First, Hi everyone, first post!
I just got my Magnum last weekend and I love it!
It was slightly used and without the NAV, so I wanted to get one.
There are lots of used pulls on eBay all the time, usually all out of 300's,
I picked one up for under $800, and then spent another $160 at the dealer for the antenna and the bezel.
I haven't got it and installed it yet, but I will mention if I have any problems.
The only thing that I am curious about is, I noticed that depending on which car you are in the NAV will come on with a splash screen and say "Chrysler" or "Dodge" on it, and I have heard about certain big dealers having thier names and logos pop up on the screen too. Does anyone know if there is a way to program this start up screen with your own image?
Has anyone figured out how to tap into the video to use as an input from video?
Thanks.

The splash screen will come up to match your car. There is some sort of id code in the system for Dodge/Chrysler.

There is a company that mods these Nav systems to have vid in and play DVDs.
If memory serves, it's a grand to do it.
I went with a Kenwood Nav head unit that plays DVDs and has video in for the rear view camera.
Smaller than the stock Nav so the Bezel for the Non-Nav dash had to be cut.
Also, Uconnect no worky yet (I'll have to daisy-chain the stock deck for that) and I havn't hooked up steering wheel controls yet. There is an adapter in Crutchfield for 40 bucks that'll do that.
I should also mention my deck is a single cd player and I kinda miss being able to shuttle 6.

ok, I have not bought my Charger yet, but plan to as soon as the Charger Daytona's start rolling in....
Question is.... whats better... fork over the roughly $1800 for the factory unit, or wait and get an aftermarket unit...?
I am not looking for the best of the best of the best with 3,000,000 features that I will never use, nor do I want to have to mess around with making aftermarket parts interface with the rest of the car... (steering wheel controls and such)....
Just looking to see if people think the stock unit is a decent setup for the money?
Also... if the dodge unit is similar in electronic design to the GM unit.... the VIN number is stored in the BCM of the car, and the radio interlocks with the VIN number for security reasons, so if you take it out of say... a GMC and install it in a Caddy, you will need a dealer to unlock the head unit... also the vin number tells the radio what brand of vehicle the radio is in... so if you pull the unit from a GMC and put it in a caddy, without any programming the unit will display the caddy emblem at start up.... same holds true for any other GM including the Hummer....

There is a company that will modify your factory nav system in your magnum to play dvd's as well you have to send the unit to them and they will have shipped back to you within 24 hrs. of when recieved. Has anyone delt with this company www.navwithtv.com they'll do it for 450 bucks. Thats what i was told by dominic atleast. Just was wondering and thought that i would let anyone that wanted to know, know.
