    Gtech Accelerometer

I see the old (1994) models on Ebay for $39 versus the new units with more functionality for $200-$300. I am only interested in 0-60 and hp/tq readings so I think I'll buy the old (new in box) unit unless there is a signifigant difference in quality or reliability in the reported numbers.

Does anyone have experience with both models or any suggestions?

Hey Charger, I'd love to get a couple of runs with your G-Tech if you get it. Maybe it's worth a couple of beers?. It would be nice to see how the cars match up.

I've got the Gtech Pro SS and have done a couple of runs. 0-60 and HP work O.K. but the unit can't pick any signal for RPM so I can't get any torque reading. I've tried all the fixes in the handbook and on the Gtech forums and nothing works. Anyone else have RPM problems with the Gtech Pro units?

I have a Tazzo which is like a g-tech but a lot cheaper. I'm also happy to report that last night I got a great 0-60mph number. It was about 3am and the car said the outside air temp was 62 degrees. I went FROM 0-60mph in 5.89 seconds. Not too bad. Might I add that was with esp and in autostick mode. The first run I did was just in drive and it did 6.22

I finally got an answer FROM Gtech concerning the RPM pickup problem in the Dodge Magnum RT. They admit that there are problems getting a signal FROM the alternator and on some Dodge vehicles, it won't work at all. The suggestion was to connect directly to the alternator or the battery. No way, the battery is in the rear and the alt. is located down on the side of the engine. I did clip on a cigarette lighter adapter to the ground and "jump start" terminal and the RPM worked. I guess they expect me to drive around with an extension cord flapping around FROM under the hood and in through the passenger side window. Now that's real professional!

I've got a Beltronics FX1 Accelerometer...got it for 99 bucks. I looked at the G-Techs while shopping around but went with the FX1 since it gave the stuff i was most interested in and was cheaper. I've got a review on it in the Magnum General discussion board along with my times.

I saw your post chicano, made me want to ask for a gift certificate at Circut City for xmas.

Thanks for the info...it looks like the FX1 is a good way to go.
