    Engine Noise Uconnect

    Hello Everyone,
I just installed my uconnect system in my magnum, using the Jaak harness. I made the harness myself, however, I'm getting engine noise over my car speakers, while I'm talking, or requesting to dial...basically, anytime uconnect has the focus. The person that I'm calling does not hear that noise. I love the system and I just need to learn how to use all the features. But does anyone have an idea on how to eliminate the engine noise?

Are you getting engine noise, or A/C noise? When I use uconnect I get a lot of static unless I turn the climate controls off, since the vents are right under the uconnect mic on the mirror.

    Your right

It is not engine noise. Just a steady static or background noise when its on. I had the engine turned off and could sill hear this noise. The call is not noisy to recieve, however, you can hear this background noise. Is this normal?

The crappy thing about these sorts of problems is that there's so many variables.

Do you have a bluetooth headset? Do you get any background noise with that?

If you have a bluetooth headset, can you pair it using a handsfree profile (rather than headset profile), do you get noise then?

Are your windows down? Could this be noise from outside the car?

Where is your phone? Is it in your pocket? On the console? sitting right on a speaker? By the radio? Does it matter where it is?

Is your climate control turned off entirely? Do you get noise then?

Did you install the aftermarket version or the factory version? You said you made your own harness. Could any of the leads be loose? Could you need more shielding on the wires going to your speakers (however you've got it hooked up)? If you're in-call and you get under the dash and start futzing with where the wires are routed, does that make a difference?

Anyhow, good luck, man. This does not sound like an easy diagnosis or fix.
