Aux Input - Brainstorming. Pinout within.

    Folks-

I am sick of tired of dealing with these interface companies like PAC/PIE/Blitzsafe etc. None of them have any sincere interest in working on a solution any time soon for aux input on our OEM units. I've called each one and begged. They could care less. They will get to it when they do.

It's time to take matters INTO our own hands, and I need some help.

The back of the OEM Head unit for the LX platform:

The plug/port on the right hand side is the Sirius Satellite interface. That brings up the following diagram.

Am I correct in assuming that it could be as simple as splicing an RCA cable INTO that port and using the common ground for both RCA channels? I did this exact thing on my factory BOSE unit on my old audi. Simple as pie and worked beautifully. Anyone have input? I'm curious how I can trick my OEM stereo INTO thinking the Sirius interface is connected in ORDER to hear the signal coming in FROM this port.

Help be brainstorm. I'm sick of not HAVING my ipod.

The signal inputs are not really a problem. the problem is telling the head unit/amp when you are using the aux input. The CAN bus controls quite a bit balance, fader, source signal amp turn-on etc.. so if you can figure out the programming language for the CAN bus that tells the amp to cut on switch to sat radio etc.. then you are set to go no problem
the signal wires are the LEAST of your worries. There is a company called www.soundgate.comand they are working on an interface, but they say they are still a few months out. they should have a steering wheel control interface and aux in.
    Thanks for the Avatar, Hazman

Yes the input is not the real problem. And with those of use with satellite splicing in won't help.

well actually if you have the satellite receiver it should be easier... I remember there was a form of override with a few relays for the ML320 back in 99 for video... similar idea here... set a pair of DPST relays so that when they're not activated it passes audio through FROM the sat rec. when relays are energized it switches to the "AUX-IN"

Anybody know where to get a male and female version of the 10-pin connector?

I would like to try patching in my MP3, but do not want to cut any wires. Should be easy enough to blackbox a switch box.

While installing an after market head unit don't forget that you have to bring a switched power in . other wise you end up with 2 constant powers, and you won't have the switch power the turn on the new head unit when you trun the key.
