    Anyone want sounddeadening?

So I'm going to be a dealer for secondskin soon, but I'm not quite ready to place a full order just yet. I need to place at least a $500 order to get wholsale pricing, so anyone want some sounddeadening?

If you don't know anything about sounddeadening, it is pretty basic. You will apply butyl mat to your metal body panels to keep them from resonating and letting sound go through. This can be done in order to stop panels from rattling because of massive amounts of bass. It can also be done to quiet wind or engine noise. You'll get a real luxury quietness in your car by apply a good amount of deadening.

For those who don't know anything about secondskin, they are one of the best companies I've come across in the industry. Ant, the owner, will help you out with anything and I mean anything. He has a reputation for amazing customer support. The material itself has no lingering odors and is just as, if not more efective, than any other sounddeaders . I've used it for years and I would highly recommend it over anything else.

I'll get 30% off the posted prices. So 20 sq ft of damplifier would be $35 instead of $50. If I can get a big enough order ($500 total), I'll order it all and ship it out to whomever ordered it from me. I'll be doing about $200 myself, so thats just $300 more.

    Check out the site, SecondSkinAudio.com
    Read the test SoundDeadenerShowdown.com
    Then email me at Robbyho@gmail.com

How does this stuff compare to that dynamat product?
I'm thinking of using some in the spare tire compartment for easing a bit of MDS drone.

In my opinion it is better than dynamat. Damplifier is the equivalent to original dynamat, and damplifier pro is the equivalent of dynamat extreme. Taken from the independent test report that I linked above:

" If quality is your most important requirement, Second Skin Damplifier or Damplifier Pro are the obvious choices. Dynamat Xtreme is close, but being more expensive and not as good isn't a winning combination."

I've personally used second skin for years and would never recommend anything else. In my kit car, I quieted my engine noise from 114 db at the firewall to 96 db. That's an 18 db decrease!!! Amazing

Trunks are about 20 sq ft
    Doors about 6-8 sq ft
Magnum Cargo area about 30 sq ft
    Roofs about 32 sq ft

If doing a trunk or the magnum rear end, I'd remove all the plastic panels, including the wheelwell covers and the hatch lid panels, then apply 2 layers of damplifier. 2 layers will yield a very noticably quieter ride. Of course, the more you apply, the more attenuation you get. I put 300 sq ft in my Kit Car (volkswagen beetle sized interior, so 3-5 layers everywhere), and the before and after was extreme. I mean it went from not being able to have a conversation b/c of engine/road noise to being able to comfortable converse and hear subtle details in songs and movies.

Any treatment of the panels will show an improvement. Just 1 layer on a trunk will remove any metal resonaces.

Secondskin sells a lot of other products beside butyl mat. Luxury liner and motor mat work excellent for attenuating airborne sound.

I know alot about this stuff, but I am no expert. If you really want to learn about it, go to the secondskin forum, or email Ant about your project ideas.

Does this order only include $500 worth of the Second Skin product or can the Spectrum Spray be included in the deal? Since both are priced similarly I would assume the price on the spray would be the same as the Second Skin as long as the $500 amount is reached. I would prefer the spray since it can be sprayed, brushed or rolled on. I may even use it under the car if the interior layer doesn't quiet the car enough.

*Edit* I got your e-mail but you may want to post the info in case some others have the same question or are interested in the Spray versus the Second Skin product.

The answer is: I can get you 30% off anything from the second skin site. Damplifier, spectrum, sludge, spray guns, motor mat, whatever!

I am hoping to get this order placed within 2 weeks, sooner if I can reach the $500 mark. I'm not trying to reslae SS just yet, so this is the best deal you're going to find, i.e. wholesale. The only cost that I will add on is the shipping from me to you.

So email me with definite orders and I'll let everyone know the progress.

I'm in for at least a gallon of the Spectrum Spray, maybe two. I'd rather have a little extra in case I find I need to do the underside of the wagon also

*Edit* Out of curiosity I checked into the shipping price for the spray. At 31 lbs for two gallons, this stuff must be pretty damn thick!
