If no one is sitting in the passenger seat and the airbag light is on you need to take it in for service. There is a load sensor under the seat that determines when to enable or disable the air bag. No one in the seat, disabled. Someone small in the front seat, disabled but a warning light is on. Regular adult, airbag is enabled no indicator light.

There is a calibration procedure that the dealer will need to do in order to get it set right.

Here's how the passenger airbag light works -

    1) ON - bag is OFF, no one is sitting there... if there is then they should weigh less than 50lbs (like a child, not a good idea)

    2) OFF - someone (or something) heavier than 50lbs is on the seat.

My light was not initially working correctly. After some work on the front-inside mounting bolts (the horizontal bolt is the mount, the vertical is the "adjustment") it now works correctly.

If you're comfortable with (and have some time, not a lot is requried) you can make the adjustment yourself. I had initially made mine by mistake, and after realizing it I had played with the adjuster and understood how to make the adjustment myself.
