I am not sure what source you used but if you want it to be only on when your iginition is on just move the fuse to the other slot. The fuse panel has three slots. One is common, one is power on all the time and the other is power on with iginition.

Sorry got magnum on the brain.

But some of what I said still holds true. You can change whether a power source is constant on or just on when the key is on by moving its position in the fuse panel.

I've installed quite a few stereos in my past cars, and FROM what I remember, its the remote wire that makes the stereo turn on and off . Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

the remote wire is an output FROM an after market stereo that sends voltage to an amp or power antenna or both to cut them on when the stereo is turned on. More than likely if the fac. stereo does not not have a 12volt switched wire you can use a relay along with a hot wire and create a 12 volt switched lead.
I just got my magnum yesterday but I do plan on upgrading the stereo (the Boston Acoustics sucks ass!!) I don't think it is on a DATA bus type system but I am not sure
    Hope this helps

The factory stereo is powered by a single 12V power wire. There is no ignition switched 12V wire. The radio and amplifier are turned on remotely through the CAN-BUS system.
You can get a switched 12V signal FROM a switched accessory plug.

The Magnum radio is on a can-bus type output so using the existing wires FROM the radio is a no go but the amp is pretty close/ I am in the process of installing a Kenwood 7015 dvd/cd/touchscreen with navigation so far it looks like it should be fairly simple to do just a slight modification of the dash trim/ I don't think I will miss the wheel controls. I harly use them now .

Hey Earcandy, I want to install the same Kenwood head unit, but two places told me it wouldnt fit even if they trimmed the dash piece!! Im thinking it will fit. Are we talking about the regular radio or the nav opening?i have the regular radio. If it fits let me know how you did it and if you can take some pics. Thanks and good luck

The adapter for the '04 durango fits the magnums with the reg radio. I ran the ignition wire FROM the head unit to the lead of the cigerette lighter. You will also need an antenna adapter. Here is my install http://members.cox.net/david.a.heath/
