I realize that this might be a silly question, but how difficult/expensive would it be to get the 300c's subwoofer and add it to the Magnum RT?
From what I've been reading, the only options for upgrading the Magnum's sound system, because of the level of integration with the Can-Bus, are:
The second option looks like the best bang for the buck sound upgrade, if a method could be found to make it invisible (important WAF/SOAF<see note> issue).
- Change the speakers, 2 at a time or all 6 depending on taste/budget. some people like the sound of the BA speakers, and for the money you will spend, are you really going to hear that big of an improvement?
- Add an aftermarket subwoofer/amplifier attached to the rear speakers. solves the lack of bass issue some people complain about, but it's seems pretty easy to lose a large portion of the cargo space and running the subwoofer off of the rear speakers has some sound quality issues.
- Completely gut the sound system and REPLACE it with an aftermarket system FROM top to bottom. besides the cost/effort issue, even if you manage to avoid the interference issue some have seen, you will still lose the spiffy integration the factory systems have with the EVIC and steering wheel controls.
So, does anyone know if the 300c's subwoofer is capable of interfacing with the Magnum's radio system? Can it run off of (or hook-up to) the Magnum's standard 288-watt amp? How big is it/how difficult would it be to hide in the Magnum? How large a pile of coin do you think that DC would want for one of these?
Like I said, probably a silly question, but still....
NOTE: WAF/SOAF = Wife/Significant Other Approval Factor
