Since yesterday I get it every time now. Last night I saw it for 40 minutes straight and then for 20 minutes. Today I have been seeing it here and there all day. Whats going on. I don't see any threads that have any info
In my dream the world had suffered a terrible disaster.A black haze shut out the sun and the darkness was alive.Suddenly a small light glowed. A candle flickered into life. A symbol of hope!A single tiny candle, shining in the ugly dark.I LAUGHED and blew it out!
Database error? Couple threads down.

Yeah now everytime I post I get an error, refresh the screen and the post is there
Weird
All threads are showing 0 replies, and the proper number of views. weird.
I have had database error only once. Nope, twice....
None of this had anything to do with the transition/upgrade. Sort of.
Our hosting company screwed up on our database upgrade of two days ago (you guys noticed its faster and isn't throwing errors anymore?); They did most of the job but forgot one part of it. They were supposed to fix that last night but the tech forced the database to shut down. This crashed a table that the forum needs to do all kinds of stuff. The tech didn't bother to read the logs when he restarted the db to find out if he'd caused any damage. So it took until 6 am when I got a phone call to find out we were up $hit creek.
Took two hours to repair the damage but we came back up around 8.
I know you guys want to blame the new forum software but that wasn't it :-)
"LxF welcomes with open arms all members, regardless of social status, creed, color, sexual preference, or anything else. The only thing we discriminate against is douchebags."
Check out Darth Hemi in the LxForums Garage
Can we blame the new forum software on the crappy forum searching ability then???![]()

Whats crappy about it? Featurewise? Performance?
hhhmmm.. I see what yoou did there...
Looks like the search index rebuilt itself within the past hour or so??
Can we search by "thread started by" ...???
And how 'bout being able to filter sections when getting "new threads" like we used to!?![]()
No. The search text table crashed last night and caused all of the grief we went thru overnight and this morning. When the site came back up it was after I repaired it. Before last night it also worked fine.
There is a whole database table that contains (almost) nothing but the text of every post. I assume this is so you can do a big scan of the table while other people are posting into it. Maybe (VBulletin was apparently designed by alien chimps on crack). This table exploded last night after a service tech at the hosting company did a bad thing and then never checked to see if he caused any damage.
You always could. Go into Advanced Search. Click the Single Content type tab at screen top. That is the same old Advanced Search screen you are used to seeing on the old forum.
Let me guess... you never clicked on that? You've been using the other one? The sucky multicontent one that nobody has figured out?
Notice at screen bottom you can click to save your search prefs. Set it the way you want it to display as and when you come back it'll be like that again.
