dumb. what they don't factor in is that most challenger SRT8's are weekend cars and get driven much less, and northern cars get parked for 1/3 of the year during winter.

i put like 5,000 miles a year on my car so it has less of a carbon footprint than the average prius driver who drives his to work every day year round.

Lol relax guys. It says clearly in the article.

"EPA and NHTSA estimates are based on the assumption that vehicles will be driven 15,000 miles annually, and that 55% of those miles will be city miles, with 45% classified as highway miles. Using the Carbon Footprint tool, we calculated metric tons of CO2 emissions based on the same 15,000-mile annual estimate."

So they came to the conclusion based purely on the vehicle's performance if it was driven 15,000 miles a year. Of course it will vary per individual owner if they modify, or garage their car part of the year.

^^^ that's exactly what i was saying. it doesn't take into account the average real world use for that type of car...

So true, but after all, isn't that the average Prius owner? They are all better than us who do 45k miles on the highway per year and use our car as a truck and use our car for track events on fast lap days or use them to go drag racing? If I use a Pruis, I would need three other vehicles to do it all, what would the total "carbon foorprint" look like then? If you look at how often a Prius gets crushed and how long these cars last, I believe it would shake out to be an interesting surprise.

It's an article on Yahoo. Car enthusiasts compared to the car owning population is a pretty small percentage. This applies to the average driver, not just the average Prius driver.

Now if this was on Motor Trend or Top Gear then I would understand people being frustrated at it lol

    your not getting it.

even if that article is written for the general public and average driver it doesn't change what 90% of challenger SRT's are used for. it doesn't change the fact that those stats are so skewed that it doesn't have real world relevance to carbon footprint of the average SRT car.

Its nothing more than a feel good article so someone who spent more on a hybrid can justify it.

Same thing for the Maserati. I mean would you really expect a Yahoo article on cars to be accurate and to make sense to auto enthusiasts?

As Hemi31 said it's something for the general public to be like "Hm that's interesting, lets buy a hybrid"

I'm not quite sure what I am not getting. The general public that this article is for wouldn't even buy an SRT8 to begin with. So they can stay in the dark about how fun a Hemi is.

THEY can say all they want about "dirty cars" because when THEY need parts, tools, equipment carried.... -THEY call the Magnums who are not classifed as cars nor care about the negative opinions of THEY.
