Questions about new Sony HD HDD Camcorder

I'll be in the market soon for a new camcorder and I know I want ot go HD. I think I want to go Hard Disk too. Some of you may know that Sony just came out with their new HDR-SR1.

Ebay has these with a bunch of add-ons for around $1300

    Things I like:
    • Great image stabilization
    • 10x zoom
    • small size 1080i HD recording
    • accessory shoe for light and microphone.
Things I'm not sure I like:
    • Apparently no editing software supports the format (truly a big deal)
    • a 30gb disk holds 4 hours of HQ HD video - then I have to find storage.
    • CNET says the quality shows some of the artifacts similar to a DVD recorder with fast moving objects and such.
Can anyone with DV experience give me your views on this potential purchase. I'm toying with the idea of going HD on tape, but transferring is time consuming and I have had a problem lately with "dew" warnings that have some up at the wrong time rendering my current camera useless for hours at a time.

A nice review with some tech specs. Looks like I might need to wait until some editing programs can work with the AVCHD format.

I have a JVC MG77 and love it! 30gb HD. and it comes with it's own editing software. the quality you put online is not too good, but when you keep the hi-res and burn it to a DVD, the quality is very good.
