Old School Meets New Cool Challenge

    All,

So here I am, with a 2005 Magnum, suddenly lusting for the way it was in High School. Yes, 1978, the year of the original Magnum. Looking at pictures of that car, I wish now that Dodge had taken a few of the elements of the original and incorporated them INTO the new. Especially the grille, which I really do not like on the 2005, too much like a Durango.

So here is the challenge for you Photoshop geeks: Combine the old with the new, the idea being a re-design in a few years. Look at what they did with the Mustang!

Here are a couple of pictures of the Old School version to get you started:

    Theweeb,
Not all old things are worth digging up! Some are best left 6 feet under ground

Ya know... the more I look at those two pictures, I see something that looks sorta like something coming out in Motown when it's cold... :P

Come on, I am sure it came with Corinthian Leather! And I am trying to find similar wheels for my '05 to the first pic, some Craigers to go with my Thrush glasspacks!

As ugly and ill-conceived as they may be, they still represent heritage, the family tree, which must be respected. I owned a Mustang II...!!

    DMAG & theweeb,

My hats off to both of you. Must be more MAN than I will ever be for two reasons

That old Magnum IMHO is butt UGLY

If I own a Mustang II, I will not admit it publicly (Keep in mind that I love Mustangs also)

Schmoke 'em! Mine had the police interceptor 302, ragged, bought at auction. It went FROM rusty silver to candy apple red, and would haul!

FYI, the Falcon shared more parts with the 64 1/2 Mustang than the Pintos did with the Mustang IIs.

I was never much of a fan of the 64.5 and 65 mustangs, but I do have a bit more respect for a Falcon than a Pinto. I'll take a '69 'stang any day of the week, though.

I know I'm brining up an old thread but I still own both. The old one is a fantastic car. I also had one in high school. They are unkillable if you can keep the rust cancer away. I know I gotta get out and get pix of the two together...maybe I'll just get the two side by side in the garage. The 78 and 79 magnums were the goods back in their day. They had as much power as a vette and sat 4 comfortably. It was available with a 400 big block and T tops, most had a 360, a 318 was also available. Mine gets 20mpg with the 360 believe it or not and rides incredibly well. Mine would probably run mid 16s in the quarter, they're geared very very high in general. I could see the new one with fllip open lights like the old, but thats about it, they are utterly different cars. The old coupe luxury muscle style is gone but I'll bet we see it back within 5 years. Also, while I could likely fit 6 dead hookers in the trunk of my caddy, I bet I could squeeze a dozen in my old Mag
