XBOX 360 / live question

How can I manually connect to XBOX live instead of it automatically doing it every time I turn on the system? I want my kids to be able to play XBOX 360 game just not live.

There is a setting for auto or manual to go to Xbox live.

Go to the Console Controls in the Family Settings blade. There you have the ability to set up password restricted activities relating to Xbox Live, movies, and games. You will have to input a code (button combo) whenever you want to do any restricted activity though.
