    Thumbs down Ugliest cars

I saw one of those SSR pseudo-trucks or whatever it is today and I personally think it is ugly. Made me start thinking about some of the ugliest cars I have ever seen.

    SSR
    Aztec
    Buick Rendezvous
    New Jetta
    Smart Car
    Ford Focus Sedan
Old Toyota Sienna Van (bubble like)

You forgot the AMC Pacer. That was a fishbowl on wheels.

The Magnum has a soul. It has a personality, something all too lacking in the automotive transportation appliances everybody else is offering.

I dont think the SSR is ugly...I do think its pretty worthless and sort of an overpriced novelty vehicle. Its not a practical daily driver(at least here in Minnesota).

Here's my list of modern uglies in no particular order:
•Toyota echo (why is it so narrow?)
    •Aztek (and your sister Rendevous)
    •Scion XB
    •Honda element
•Honda insight (sorry treehugger, your MPG doesn't make it any prettier)
    •Prius (see insight)
•Chevy HHR (not it looks nothing like a PT cruiser...its ugly)
    •Subaru tribeca
    •anything branded KIA
•older hyundai Tiburons (they remind me of circus peanuts candy)
•Mote carlo (im on the fence about these, once and a while a modded one comes along I like, but base models off the shelf are ugly)
    MODS: Borla 112 exhaust•SRT8 suspension•Hotchkis swaybar•K&N drop-in filter•35% Tint•Auto Headlights•Chromed R/T rims•SRT grill•SXT Headlights•Daytona chin spoiler•300C interior door pulls•Custom "Monkey" leather armrest.
    COLOR MATCHED: Custom engine cover•Air box•Shock covers•radio/shifter bezel•shifter•rear spoiler•lic. plate frame•splash guards•

The Aztec & Pacer are on the universal list so I'll see if I can remember some of the lesser "uglies" on my list. Some of these will get some tongues wagging, I'm sure.

    - The Plymouth Reliant K-car. *ptui*

    - Any Citroen, I think.

    - Subaru XT from the late 80's.

    - Triumph TR6 (WAY too narrow and small for those gigantic wheels)

    - mid 80's Cadillac Seville w/ the amputated trunk

    - Jaguar XKE - you coulda made the tires 8" wider and you would have STILL been inside those grossly oversized fender wells.

    - Ford Mustang II

    - Datsun 510

    - Chevy Chevette

    - VW Vanagon/Microbus
    Alis volat propiis.

Anything French, but the winner: Subaru Tribecca, " What were they thinkin" quoting Dr. Phil. Front end looks like a fat kid's grin when his granma pinches his cheeks, or an Edsel as viewed in a funhouse mirror! I know, I used to make those faces .

My mother owned a Pacer wagon with wood on the side, that's ugly with a heap of uglier on top. The 70's Ford Comet & Maverick (4 door only) has my vote.

The Gremlin was kinda a pig as well but did come with a 403 or something grossly oversized (cool).
Y'all know I got me a Magnum, why else would i be here?

Does anyone remember The unique Aurora, a 19 feet long monster that was built by an eccentric New York priest as the ultimate safety vehicle.
Father Alfred Juliano bankrupted himself creating the prototype, which remained the only one ever built because the contraption was so full of faults no one wanted one.

It was supposed to be the safest car ever built and included features that are now common, but at the time were unheard of.

It had seatbelts, a roll cage, side-impact bars, a collapsible steering column, foam-filled bumpers
    and a padded instrument panel.

Its windscreen was curved away from the driver so the possibility of impact with it was reduced.

This design meant that windscreen wipers were not required, but it also distorted the view through it.

The silver and black Aurora included a large "front-end air-scoop" instead of a conventional grill.
This was to reduce frictional drag and to lessen injuries to pedestrians it hit.

But its most peculiar safety feature was the seats that swivelled 180 degrees so before a crash those inside could turn round and take the impact backwards.

And a couple of more common ones:

    And

My mother had a Matador the very same color. It had a 305 in it. Not very pretty but lots of power if I remember right. That was the first car I ever passed anyone in.

My 6 cyl 258ci Gremlin with auto trans ran 15.51 with headers, dual plane intake manifold, 4 barrel carb, cam, hi comp pistons, and a 3.54 posi rear end. The last car I had that got plenty of comments from other people (OK, for the sound and performance, not looks). I thought it looked cute, but then, it was my baby. I still have the intake manifold and headers, can't let go of the dream of having another one.

    The v8 was 304ci.

Easy now, that one's iffy. Unlike pretty much everything else mentioned above, this one has got a pretty loyal following and seems to get better w/ age. It's got some style, albeit utilitarian. Anyone see the 'Overhaulin' where they refreshed a thing as a bonus prize?
