    Site Timeout

How long can you be inactive before you have to log in again? What is considered inactive? I never log in and then go browsing to other sites. My only inactive time is when I am creating a response to a post.

I try to ensure quality and accuracy in my postings as well as checking spelling in Word to ensure spelling and grammer. Often I have to do some Google searches to post relevant info, or it takes me a few minutes to compose my reply. By the time I check my facts and spelling when I try to enter the post I find that I have been logged out.

I have to log back in. At that time my reply is posted but my new posts link has been reset.

An example. Today I logged in and there were over 1,000 unread posts. I took the time to reply to a post and had the time out problem. After logging back in my new posts link was only at 44. I lost a lot of links.

This is very annoying. I try to make a post, get logged out and my new posts link is reset. Can the time out be increased? It seems to me I have taken less than 10 minutes to post a reply and I have this problem.

I feel your pain! That's been a pain for me as well. Not the logging off, but loosing all the "new posts". What I've started doing is keeping an extra window open. If I'm taking a long time to type a reply, I'll jump back to the other window and do a "new posts" search (or some other search function). That way, it resets your idle time (which is 15 minutes, unless they've change it) and keeps you from loosing the new posts list.
