About LinkBacksI'm tired of all this messy hair and want to get a really close cut. I got the kind of face that looks good with short hair. I'm thinking almost army/marines short.
Does anyone have any advice or tips on what I should look for? Anything to watch out for? I heard that barbers often screw up the crown portion so you look weird for a few weeks

Don't Nair it. My buddy still cringes at the mention of "Nair" a decade after the fact.

I use an electric trimmer without the plastic attachments. Just trimmer to skin and go to town. Do that first, then shaving cream and a razor. I don't shave though - just leave it where the machine leaves off...like 2 mm or so

#2 seems like the way to go. looking for a close cut, not a shave per se but a really close cut.

Dude just go get yourself a mach 3 razor and cut away. I did this for years. Instead of using shaving cream buy a shave oil. The best one is TSS. Do a google search for it.

Been doing that for 20 years. I do leave the top front a little longer and gel it up a bit so I don't look like a marine, but more or less #2 all around and square it off at the back.

Here's a pic of me at Christmas. Notice the top is a little longer, and gel'd up? Gives a little bit of style and a slightly less military look. Depending on which barber does my hair the length may vary, because I just say "Number 2 sides and back, square it, and leave it a little longer on top". And everyone has a different opinion of what "a little longer" is. And as you can see I wear glasses, which I remove when I get my hair cut, so I can't see until they are done. I got it cut last weekend and the guy left it really long on top. But no biggie, I get my hair cut every 3 weeks or so. Originally Posted by 65535
