Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 vs iPad 2..

I'm an Apple guy but AT&T seems to have a decent offer. Buy the Samsung and get a free Skyrocket II Smartphone. I've had an iPhone since day 1 but maybe it's time for a change. Opinions?!

Seem to be a lot more Free apps on droid vs apple but haven't looked close enough to see quality of them.

Myself I prefer my Blackberry Playbook and Bold 9700 combo..

Im the only one in my family that doesn't currently have an ipad, I have a toshiba thrive, which is pretty similar to the galaxy tab. If your going to be doing a lot of web browsing, then get the galaxy tab, its a million times better to browse on an android tablet than an ithingy. There are tabs in the browser so its much easier to change pages, and flash is obviously a big thing, and if you don't like the browser that the tablet comes with you can just download a different one. I also like the way that you can put media on the tablet, no using itunes to sync all of your stuff every time you just want to put one song on or take one off, you can just do it. And there are plenty of media apps out there so you can play just about any video or music file there is.

As far as the skyrocket goes, I have two friends that have them and they make my iphone look extremely outdated....I would absolutely love to have one and I can't wait till I get an upgrade.

    Hope that helps

I changed from Iphone to the Galaxy S II about three weeks ago and still couldn't be happier. Bigger screen, faster processor, cheaper and no Itunes. It sucks starting over on apps but has been worth it. All those little things apple has locked down you are able to customise on the Galaxy. My wife, the die hard apple fan, feels the same way.
Oh and unlike the Iphone you can use the Galaxy to make phone calls on. Seriously though I do get a better signal. Can't speak for the tablet don't have any experience there.

I have the Asus transformer and LOVE IT! Similar to the galaxy is many ways. I own 8 ipods, cell is android, and now my tablet (honeycomb OS just like the Galaxy). The galaxy is good and the deal looks good too. Go for it, you don't have to be a part of the apple sheeple if you don't wanna.

Just an FYI, with IOS5, the iPad has tabbed browsing. You can also download other browsers and you don't need iTunes syncing with IOS5 as well.

Not trying to sway any decisions, just putting the most up to date info out there.

I too bought a Toshiba Thrive. I love it! I have an iPod and an iPhone but I would never buy an iPad. I test with them at work and find them quite useless. As far as im concerned the benefits of the ipad stop at a slightly clearer screen then the Thrive.

I bought the Thrive because it has 1gig of RAM,5mp rear camera, 2mp front camera, a full size HDMI port, 2 USB ports, SD card slot, higher resolution screen, bigger screen (slightly), and it's the only tablet on the market that has a user changeable battery. Not to mention the Android OS and it's plentiful market. It also came with a free version of a compatible MS package.

I have streamed several movies directly to my TV via the tablet and if you plug a mouse or keyboard into the usb ports they instantly show up and are useable.

For reference, the iPad2 only has 512meg RAM, The cameras are pretty much useless. The front camera is less then 1mp and the rear is only slightly better.

I am sure the Apple heads will give some other views but I already own 2 Apple devices and the iPad, while insanely popular just doesn't stack up compared to the compitition unless you are just looking for an oversized iPod. I was actually looking for a computer replacement and I think I have found it in my Thrive....

I made the change. Haven't played around with the tablet yet but the phone seems really slick.

Ah I was not aware, I hardly ever have my iphone plugged into my comp so I haven't even upgraded to the new OS. I'm glad apple finally figured out how inconvenient it was to have to redownload everything each time you wanted to put a song on your ithing and the tab browsing makes it infinitely easier to browse the web.

Still no flash for the ithings though so that still makes internet browsing better for android imo.

And idk if anyone else has this problem but when you type in something wrong into a space, whether its a web address or just a text, I hate how on any ithingy you can't ever fix the one letter you want change or add because the cursor will only go to the back of the word, or wont go exactly to the letter you wish to change, you have to retype the entire word or line, but on android there is a little arrow that can be moved around to exactly where you wish to delete a certain letter or add one or whatever. Is that changed in IOS5?
