YERSTERDAY a pilot passed away at the controls of a leer jet with 5 passengers aboard.
one aboard who has a liscence to fly single engine planes took control and was talked down by a pilot trainer on the ground 7 states away threw the local control tower.

Not quite a Leer Jet, it was a twin turbo Super King Air. Here's our union press release. Good job guys!

Great Job by all!
I have Comm, Multi- and IFR ratings, but it's been a long time since I've flown! That would be tough to do under those circumstances!

Ummm...isn't the ATP Physical supposed to keep people who might die in flight from...you know...flying?
CFI in the tower did a good job - it's a big leap from single engine to multi, especially a HP Multi...
It is, but fortunatly an aiplane is an airplane. Not to put down what the controlers and SEL rated pilot did. I remember the first time I sat behind the controls of multi. It really is a whole new world, especially when your first flights in a multi are in a big turbocharged Navajo. Took some getting used to the fact that it's speed to the runway is only about 5mph slower than my plane goes!
Really is a shame that these wonderful controlers are taking 30% pay cuts.

It is worthy of squaking 7500
I saw this and was just like Holy $hit!!!! I feel bad for the pilot I'm just happy someone was capable of landing the plane to help the remaining passengers survive. RIP for the Pilot.
It is like a movie.
THAT must have been bizarre. The school that I went to at least progressed students through various levels of performance first (I was too $poor$ to move on after freshman year) - First the 172, then Arrows, then the glorious Mooneys, THEN the Seminole...that way you kinda get walked into it, rather than going straight from driving a Yugo into a Porsche.
