Our daughter is 8 weeks old and is sleeping on average 6-8 hours at night. Last night she slept for 10 hours during the night. Is this normal? I am not complaining about all the sleep we are getting but should we be worried? On a side note, she is gaining weight as expected. She came home weighing 7.2lbs and at week 6 she was 10.4lbs.

Our kids (3 of them) have ran the gamut on sleeping at night. The first would only go two hours at a time, the second slept four to six hours, our latest started sleeping eight or more hours two weeks after we brought her home.

Your Daughter could be going through a growth spurt where they need more energy to grow, hence more sleep.

Cherish the all night sleeping when you can get it. You'll need the reserves for those nights they are sick and you get no sleep.

Totally normal Obiwan.... Sleep patterns will change in time as hormones develope. Newborns tend to sleep a good deal of the time because their bodies are still adapting to the outside world. Don't get to comfortable with your full nights sleep yet bud, LOL! Their will be many of sleepless nights to come.

yup...when mine turned 8 weeks old...that as the magic number to 10 hours a night. Enjoy it! Teething ruins it!

Yes it is normal but the time will come when she'll be up all night just like DMAG said when the teeth come. Then its all over.

Eight ear infections in 6 months with mine. No sleep at all. At 2 1/2 sleeps like a rock. Be very happy, and sleep well.

My son just got sick for the first time at 7 1/2 months (I know, I lucked out). Has had fever for the past three days. Not a fun little guy the past few days!
