    NEW School prayer:

    NEW School prayer:

Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule
For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.
If Scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.
And anytime my head I bow
    Becomes a Federal matter now.
Our hair can be purple, orange or green,
    That's no offense; it's a freedom scene.
The law is specific, the law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.
For praying in a public hall
Might offend someone with no faith at all.
In silence alone we must meditate,
God's name is prohibited by the state.
We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,
And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks.
They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.
To quote the Good Book makes me liable.
It's 'inappropriate' to teach right from wrong,
We're taught that such 'judgments' do not belong.
But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,
No word of God must reach this crowd.
It's scary here I must confess,
When chaos reigns the school's a mess.
So, Lord, this silent plea I make:
Should I be shot; My soul please take!
    Amen

dude, I like ya... but WHY would you think to post that here?!
religion and morals are two different things, and it's unfortunate that so many people assume one cannot exist without the other. I take offense at that notion, as half the "religious" people I know are also the biggest douchebags I've ever met. I guess if they go to church on xmas and easter, they're still better people than i am...

although i agree with the prayer, it clearly states at the top of the section...

The Gas Tank is for Off Topic discussion (non LX vehicle related)
Since there are strong varying beliefs regarding politics or religion, these threads tend to degrade into flame wars.
To keep the peace, we ask that these topics are not included here.

Take a look at any of your US currency.. In God We Trust is written on every last one..

I didn't post a religious out cry but more for thought for those that may wish to read it..

Personally I don't go to church though when I was younger I was rather involed in with the church but that was then now it's a time issue.

The Post above was also written by a 15yr old American Student not myself by anymeans..

If it's an infraction I get for posting it so be it.

Anyway didn't post to stir crap up just to share as I thought it was a good read this morning..

I appreciated this post very much. I went to a private Catholic school until I was 15 and then went public (we moved) the difference in just about every aspect of education, religion and general morality was HUGE. I wont rant too much b/c some of the IBTL Security Guards already showed up.^^

I'm not a religious person by any means, but I have my beliefs which I keep to myself. The one thing I hate the most about any super religious person, is the "You gotta believe what I believe or else" attitude.

I enjoyed this post, cause it states the obvious that is going on in the schools without shoving religion in my face. I take that post for it's face value and not any deeper inner meaning that some people might get out of it. But I also believe that religion should be kept out of the schools, unless every religion and belief is taken into consideration. Cause who's to say who is right.

But rules are rules on the forums here, so IBTL
I Am Not A Complete Idiot!!! (Some parts are still missing!)

You don't have to burn books to destroy a culture, just get people to stop reading them.
