I am a Petroleum Landman with a BA in Political Science from Texas A&M with a minor in American Military History, 2003. (Member of the Corps of Cadets there also)

It essence I am a oil & gas lease negator, genealogist (got to find the people who own the minerals), and a whiz at courthouse searches for documents.

I work in Texas but would love to find work in Georgia or South Carolina since my wife was stationed there in Augusta, Ga. at Fort Gordon in November and I have only got to see her a few times.

As for sales work well I am not too shabby and I know my way around these cars pretty well.

Interesting.... I wonder why the spots are so badly needed for Vegas? While I would much prefer to stay right here in Chicago, Im certainly not going to limit myself to just jobs in this city. Ill keep it in the back of my mind for sure.

Hmmmm, Ill have to stop by one of these days! Im not that close to Naperville, but sometimes I need work done that I know a Discount Tire or a Just Tires could handle with ease. Not saying that Id be coming to you in hopes of free labor or parts, but it really makes me more comfortable to know someone at a place like this that I can trust.

Really great job, very demanding, long hours; but great pay. And should be ok through the recession as long as Obama doesn't try to socialize medicine!!! That would suck!!
That just sounds like a badass job.... see Id love to do something exciting like that. I bet you experience new stuff all the time and no two days are ever the same for you. Awesome!

I must admit, I never realized how many armed service-related folks were on this site. Sure, I see people post in passing that mention something about it, but a thread like this just shows how many people on this site are affiliated with the navy, marines, army, reserves, etc. etc. etc. Very cool!

I suppose as long as we are mentioning jobs we currently have, I could spill what I do as well. I have been working valet since high school, both at a restaurant and for one of my best friend's private valet companies. In addition, I also play hockey (hence, the avatar) and instruct goalie clinics for varying age/skill levels. I specifically work with a local high school team a few times per week, and work in larger camps during the summer. The pay is pretty sweet, given what I am doing... and hell, Im literally doing what I love, so you cant beat it. Besides, I get to work for a former pro goaltender who runs the Academy that Im a part of. Too bad its not something I would ever really be able to make a living off of.... Lastly, I do some minor maintenance work on cars for people. I used to work regularly in a garage, but things have since changed. I still have access to it and all the tools, but I dont like doing the work anymore. With as busy as I am with school, hockey, and whatever else is going on, I just cant find the time to keep up with customers... and Ive actually grown to hate the petty maintenance work.

Enough of that rant... let's keep it going here folks. I find this fascinating! Helps me get to know the people on the other end of each computer just that much better. I know for a fact that there's a few people who havent spoken up just yet who have some pretty sweet jobs!!

We need all the help we can get when it comes down to finding and holding down a good job, so why not use this forum as a resource as well? Certainly can't hurt. I know most of us are spread out across the country, but you never know... if someone happens to work for a national company, they might be able to have some pull to get you an interview somewhere at least. You know what they say, sometimes it's not what you know, it's who you know!

You just might find your next great employee right here on the forum! Sheesh, people have been able to find their significant other on this forum, so why not jobs too?

    I will start it up:

I am a college senior right now, graduating from DePaul University here in Chicago by summer of this year. I am majoring in accounting, and would specifically like to shoot for an auditing position, as that is the field of accounting that interests me most. However, I would gladly consider any accounting-based positions at this point. Probably about one of the worst times in economic history for me to be entering the workforce, but I am prepared to do what it takes to pursue my career.

So how about it.... anyone affiliated with the accounting industry?

For everyone else, perhaps form your post stating your desired or current field of work at the beginning. Just in case the thread gets really long, it will facilitate the search function quite nicely if you can identify what you do/what you want to do up front at the start of your post.

Interesting melting pot of folks here. Me... I barely got out of High School. I've worked my ass off since I was 15 and am now a co-principle in the Marine Business. We have 2 successful dealerships in SC, however things have definately been tough lately. Fortunately, we have surrounded ourselves with excellent brands of boats/engines and more importantly dedicated employees. This, as well as our excellent reputation for service, will ensure our survival during these tough economic times.

Hey, by the way....does anyone want to buy a boat??

I wish I could actually go out on mine once in a while....

I co-own a special events and production company. I mostly concern myself with the production side of things. I spend nearly all of my time working in the carpentry, paint, and design departments. We mainly do large corporate events, sporting events, and high end social parties. Recently we got done doing jobs for the NCAA, BCS, and the NFL. Cool deal when you're able to get tickets to all the big games. The economy nearly killed the business last year, but somehow we stayed open without having to lay off anybody. Oddly enough right now we're on pace for a record year, well over the previous mark. Go figure.

In other words, I'm the boss man of a carpentry shop.
