How often does this happen to you???

How often to people motion or yell at you to slow down, just because your exhaust is loud?

I find a lot of people equate the noise with speed.

Yesterday I was driving through my complex in 1st gear going less than 20mph, and some jackas motions to me to slow down.



I've had a few people in my neighborhood yell at me to slow down over the past year or so when I've been doing the speed limit or less. Are people this moronic in your neighborhood? And how do you deal with them? Or do you just ignore them like I do.

Happens all the time in my neighborhood, I roll in Low, and at 25 mph my car runs about 3500 rpm where the note is just loud enough to irritate some people, and if they are outside they always yell to slow down, and when I used to go see Michelle, there was this alley that had townhouses, and I echoed off the buildings and I did 20 through there and this one guy would always come running out of his house shaking his fist at me, sometimes he was in his boxers, funny stuff.

i had a lady say that to me in my magnum on the street (i wasnt even speeding) when she was in her car. then we hit a red light right after she flipped me the bird when i pulled up along side i nicely asked if she could repeat what she said because i didnt catch all of it. she never looked over...lol

Back when I had my '01 Ram with custom tuned exhuast (that wasn't that loud either) I used to get yelled at by this guy who lives at a speed transition from 30>55 (or 55>30, depending which way you go) and he'd always yell at me when I was leaving town, even though I was only going 25~30 when I went past his house. One day, he threw a plastic garbage can at me... Car behind me, the city unmarked squad car, pulled into his driveway and by the time I'd turned around, the guy was already handcuffed and in the back seat of the car - turns out its a fellony to throw something at a moving vehicle...


With the Charger, I get it all the time too. One person actually had my daily routine down when I was working and had a cop at their house with a radar gun (car was hidden and the cop was standing in a not so obvious place) and when I went by, they were yelling and screaming for me to slow down - I STOPPED and told them to mind their own business and the cop walked over to them and said "he was doing 20mph, residential areas are 25mph, he did nothing wrong so leave him alone."

It's part of it. It's as easy as keeping stock exhaust... or laughing when they do it.
I had the cops roll up to my house a couple of times due to reports of reckless driving in the neighborhood. I always had to explain, "man I drive reckless everywhere BUT in the neighborhood, brother. Kids play here."
We have a pro street camara dude that lives down the road. He tests and tunes on Saturdays and each saturday, the cops come out. lol Never have I seen him do more than an idle in the neighborhood. ON a street where 8 people stare at hime with hands on their hips, I'm the one with the thumbs up.

I had some lady in the neighborhood motioning to me to slow down, AND I WAS HARDLY EVEN DOING THE SPEED LIMIT, GOING UPHILL EVEN!!! And this was with a stock Daytona exhaust!!!

how do people motion for this? Here, they just yell it. Heck, I do too should some doink try to fly through the hood. I don't know the sign language for slow yoass down tho.

He kinda held his hand out flat and motioned it downwards a few times. I got his drift.

Tell your neighbor (the tuner) that its a good thing your other neighbors dont want to push it...

In many areas, artificial noise over a certain DB when not done from a moving vehicle, is cause for a noise ordinance violation.

Ie, a dog barking continuously, is a violation after so many minutes, but a car doing it once while in park (reving your engine) is a auto violation...

I did a bunch of research into this when dealing with my dogs barking, and my ******* neighbor who called the cops...

He does ricer tuning and engine mods.. He wound up getting a lot larger ticket.

when i lived in florida, the management at my apartment complex asked if my engine had a volume control. seriously.
i also had a cop sprint to his car and attempt to chase me down, i was going 5 below the speed limit. i evaded this gentleman by simply going on my way lol.

i dont understand how a car with a slighty more free flowing exhaust such as mine can get all sorts of tickets while a harley running straight pipes and is twice as loud gets nothing simply because its "factory".

Steve you should know me well enough by now to know I don't give a rats ass if anyone likes me or not.

As far as the neighbors go: a few like me because they know they always have someone to drink a beer wiht when they want to get away from the wife/kids etc.



The rest I pretty much ignore and they pretty much ignore me, which is the way I like it, but I am sure they are all jealous of my car.

They BOTH can!

This will depend on the locale, but where I live, ANY artificial noise, not caused by a moving vehicle, can be an automatic noise violation...

Air horn, revving engine, etc. If the car is in motion, it dont count. THere are other ordinances on this..

I also got my neighor a ticket for running a busiess out of his house without a business license.. He realy did start the whole thing.. If he just said, your dogs bark.. I would of made sure to keep them inside more!
