a-hole drivers rant

i hate driving more and more because of the a-hole drivers everyhwere. i swear its getting worse every day.

yesterday morning im on my way to work. going down a 4 lane road. speed limit is 40. im cruising about 45-48 in the right lane. the guy to the left of me is cruising about the same a couple cars back. i see the car behind HIM riding his ass. im watching and next thing i see he passes him, over the double yellow, into the oncomming traffic lane, and cuts back over and is next to me then. im like wtf. about 5 seconds later we approach a red light. there is a car in front of me, and he (lets call him mr camry) is in the next lane. first one. so im steamin because this guy is just a jagoff. its amazing how little things can set you off. light turns green and the guy in front of me takes off. i take off and cut in front of mr C. he flips his hi-beams on like it makes a difference. hes so close that his lights are shining into my hatch and not the window.

i pace the guy next to me going exactly the speed limit. mr C doesnt try to pass me, not sure why. i was waiting for it. we roll up to the light just before getting onto the expressway. the guy i was pacing to the right of me turned and Mr. C pulled up next to me. he didnt stop so we could exchange a few words because i would have loved to. i had one of my relatives in the car (Car pooling to work), hes about 60 is like a teenager. its great. he gets just as pissed off as me when driving. well, mr C pulls half way into the intersection, rolls down his window and flips me off. i could help but laugh because he was too chicken to pull up next to me and do that.

well the light turns green. he hesitates a bit. i was dead on and moving before he even realized it was green. i get in front of him and turn onto the expressway ramp. hes behind me getting on. flips his hi-beams on AGAIN. so i slow down . soon as i get on the expressway though im off like a rocket and he gets caught up in traffic. couple miles down the road he catches up to me, and we look over. hes giving us this evil stare down. not sure if he was impressed with the hemi power or just pissed off lol. it was great.

on the way home i had this jag-off cut by EVERYONE on the expressway by riding on the solid white lines for the merge. its a single lane merge and he just road between the merge cars and the cars on the expressway. i was so pissed, couldnt find him when i got on the expressway though. its annoying cause i just worked my 8 hours of hard work and trying to get home. im patiently waiting in line inching along like everyone else when this schmo thinks he can just fly by everyone cause hes "special" ugh!

if its not the punks going 5 under in the fast lane holding everyone up, its something else. i just got into the slow lane and put cruise on at 40 (we werent going much faster) and tried to relax.

thats all, i just needed to vent.

That guy was a jerk. I don't know what's up with some people.

Just now I was driving behind a row of cars on a one lane road. The first guy was going really slow so the Audi TT right in front of me started swerving to the left and right. Back and forth. So I did the same. What the hell, we were only going like 25mph. But as soon as I followed suit the Audi TT guy slams on his brakes. Almost stops. Apparently only he was allowed to drive like that, no one else.

I don't know man it seems to me that driving in the chicagoland has become MUCH MUCH more cutthroat in the past few years, no one seems to watching the road, and almost everyone seems to be doing something else (cellphone, eating, etc..) Heck, I've almost been sideswiped by some guy diving face first into a whopper on two seperate occasions, both times near the BK on Waukegan near Lake Ave.

Everytime I come home from college, the traffic gets worse, rush hour gets longer, and the stuff people do gets crazier. I so wish that the US would make it more difficult to get a license. On a sidenote... my dad just recently took his driving test (he had a stroke around labor day, and is finally back on the road again) and he was telling me about the test he had to take, wow! that thing was difficult, over 2 hours of solid driving. His instructor was telling him that at least 1/3 of regularly licensed drivers in teh US would fail this test. But this is a different topic for a different day so I'll let it rest here.


Although, I'd taking chicagoland driving over having to drive in Kansas, in KC its not so bad, but here in Lawrence it is downright awful. People here couldn't merge to save their lives.
