One day as the fire truck went whizzing on by, Mark and Don noticed a noble looking Dalmatian dog sitting on top and Mark said...
"You know I bet they use that great dog to pull kids to safety."
"No, that's not the reason." replied Don.
"Well then, they must use that dog to keep people away from the fire."
"Nope... the dog doesn't do that."
"Okay there smarty pants... what does the fire department use the Dalmatian dog for?"
"They use him to find the fire hydrant!"
Now that's funny!

Actually in the horse drawn fire truck days, dogs were used either to keep people away from the horses or to run along side to clear the way.
And no the chief didn't pull the tail....whooooooo!

The dalmatian that I had growing up wouldn't be able to find the fire hydrant...poor girl could barely find her way downstairs in the morning.
They were used to clear the roads ahead of the horses.
Now they need to find the hydrant becuase it is blocked by a parked car!
