Making a birthday cake for my mom tomorrow, but don't know what kind of cake to make! Cream cheese frosting is a must, beyond that though I'm open to anything.
Do you have a favorite cake? Can you back it with a recipe?
Come on LX Forums, you're my Obi-Wan Kenobi!

My favorite cake is pineapple upside down cake.

Have owned my share of 12 & 13 second cars, am happy now with my stock RT.
If you need cream cheese frosting on it I'd stick with red velvet, make a nice strawberry purée to go with it. When you plate it put a pool of purée in the bottom of each plate & top with a slice of the cake, simple but amazing.

not sure about the cream cheese frosting but my favorite is angel food cake followed by German chocolate!
work at Dings Complete Car Care, No 1/4 mile time for me in the Charger but in the '71 Mach I ran a 13.066 at 109.44 (& its a 4 speed) in my friends '09 R/T 13.725 @ 103.11
Funfetti (from a box) or Tres Leches

I second the red velvel recipe, it's the best match for cream cheese icing, closely followed by carrot cake. Here's the red velvet recipe that I follow, I just use a different icing mix; it's basically a glorified buttermilk chocolate cake, but it's delicious Red Velvet Cake Recipe - Allrecipes.com
The strawberry puree is great idea, however, I'd go a touch further and make a coulis so you don't have to deal with the strawberry seeds and the lemon juice will give the strawberry flavor a bit more kick.
