I'm purdy scared of them durned Canuks! Tim Horton's springing up here, everywhere! Next they'll be down here clubbing our baby seals! JK Seriously, if you don't want to support the Chicoms, boycott their stuff. Stop buying Buicks. Yup, look at the country of origin for the motor and transmission of the new Buicks. If you travel overseas, everyone hates Americans, at least in Europe, so I tell em I'm a Canadian and effect a thick Canadian accent.

Lol...So I guess it's ok that they steal our technology and copies of our American stores and products are popping up all over China...

CHINA MAKES APPLE STORE KNOCK-OFFS*|*Weekly World News

As I said in the first post...We're talking threats at all levels from military to economic and everything in between...Sure other countries have copiers, but nobody does it to the extent that China does..

...I'm not too happy if I'm a US company like Apple who has busted their ass for years developing awesome technology platforms, and in a matter of a few months China takes everything I've developed in my company and says it's theirs too...

If they want our technology they can BUY it from us just the same way we buy all their stupid Chinese products. The same way Canada has to buy its products...Canada and other countries will BUY from Boeing and Lockheed Martin...China googles F22 Raptor and next week they're trying to make copies of it. They'll do anything they can to not support the world economy. They sell to anyone and everyone and have no problem charging 30% tariffs when actual US or other country products enter their market.

In my opinion, china has been around for a LOOONNNGGGGG time, so no matter how much we bitch about how they run their country, the fact is, it's kept them there, so they must be doing something right. We as a nation are extremely young, and if you ask me, very cocky. Now old grandpa china is bailing out our floundering economy and reinforcing it's own military. If they DO have ill intentions for the future, we are going to be at their mercy.

That ain't gonna happen any time soon. One of China's main strategies is to keep their currency devalued for manufacturing export advantages in pricing. They park much of their cash in U.S. Treasuries. Where are they going to move that? The Euro.. . .lol?

We're not at their mercy...They're at our mercy. They hold approx. $1.6 trillion of our debt out of $14 trillion...That's a drop in the bucket. Also WE give them $300 billion a year buying their goods and they basically buy none of our stuff. If we cut back on their goods and go elsewhere we could have a significant impact on their economy...and they know that. We will see how long it keeps them their...They've had a very quick rise to where they are now...much quicker than the US, because of their corrupt policies. Their currency manipulation can only last so long before the bubble bursts.

Also speaking about the US...I believe we'll be seeing some major cuts in our own spending and pulling back the throttles on how we do business. Cutting spending combined with major changes in the tax system are going to help alleviate some our problems in the next few years. I'm hoping we see our debt get back to a more manageable level...

...If we see GDP growth start to inch it's way back up in the next 5 yrs we'll be back to normal with govt revenues and we'll be closer to balanced I think..

Your so right about the Chinese copying our technology. The problem is we develop it and send it there to be manufactured. I spoke to a business owner who pulled out of china because of the piracy and corruption. He opened a plant in China, had to bribe government officials to do it. Had to bribe officials to sell products. Had the Chinese who oversaw his operations steal the technology and sell it behind his back while he paid them.

Geez, having lived all over the world, including the US, all I can say is the US needs to realize it's not the be-all and end-all of the world. Yes, you HAD the best economy in the world... in the 30s-90s, almost a hundred years, not a bad run. Now however, American society has become so based on cheap individualistic consumerism that most of the US only cares about getting all the gadgets/gizmos they can for the cheapest price, which means it can't be manufactured here since bulk shipping is a hell of a lot cheaper than paying a standing workforce to manufacture themselves.

Not being the number one economy in the world isn't cause to call another country an enemy, but the media seems to have focused on that. India has a huge growth in it's economy recently and it's growth has far outstripped the US, but you don't see the media focusing on them... no, they focus on the country that WAS communist. They may still be a highly socialist country, but it hasn't had any resemblance to a marxist country for almost a decade.

Militarily, yes the US is the most advanced army in the world; but I do hate to say it, the guys with guns left over from the 60/70s and wiring together shells from WWII into IEDs are giving you a run for your money. The advance of military technology does not guarantee victory, it reduces casualties, which is what the US needs because every soldier the US loses is a national trajedy, everyone they lose is just another drop in the bucket to them. The US can not dictate what other countries in the world do, even though they think they can. If China wants to modernize the largest standing army in the world, then they have every right to do so; you don't see the chinese telling the US they're not allowed to develop new weapons even though they have 1/7th the world's population and the strongest growing economy in the world.

They didnt steal the technology for the Ipad... they MAKE THE IPAD and all the Apple products... its not like there was high tech hacking and espionage... the 6 rear olds making the IPad simply made a few extra units at the factory and then sold them...

Srsly? Have you followed that story thru? All Apple had to do was say (paraphrasing here) "China, please take care of those stores" and poof, they were shut down.

Does that mean Apple is more powerful than China? Maybe Apple is a "threat".

Honestly I was trying to give your argument the benefit of the doubt, but then you used that Apple stuff as part of your logic... and ya totally blew it :(

I beg to differ... the US army follows standard rules on human rights, rules of engagement and operates on a basic assumption that zero civilian casualties is acceptable.

The terrorists strap bombs to their chest, have no respect for ANY human life so long as their agenda is advanced...

If we fought with the same disregard for human life, and lack of respect for the geneva convention we would have nuked the entire middle east back in the 90s...
